Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

To be honest, I think that the difference between Hamilton and Schumacher is fairly negligible. They are both very similar drivers actually, with very similar strengths. Both were very fast in qualifying, relentlessly fast on race pace, amazing in the rain, consistent, and displayed great longevity...

Re: Rank the Drivers Midseason Performance

I think if they were in the same team Bottas advantage on Saturdays would give him the edge. But I think there's little doubt Perez is the better Sunday driver. Not sure if it's an excuse to say new drivers take time to settle in or that Red Bull have given Perez unfavourable strategies at times. B...

I thought it was clear that my counter argument to your 2012/2021 parallel was implicit in the remainder of my previous post. Red Flags aren't like Reliability. But now this race's events have made you desperately worried that Hamilton might somehow "Vettel" Max over the remaining course of the season and you're acting all maudlin. Funny that you'd bring up Vettel. So far this season, Hamilton has been driving very much like Vettel 2018. Hamilton's mistake...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

Your trying to equate the 2012 standings with the 2021 standings is a reach if I ever saw one. Not a reach at all, you just don't have a good counter argument for it so you dismissed it instead of admitting how fallacious your logic was. Red Flags are just like Safety Cars. Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

If Max is indeed better at wheel-to-wheel racing (which no one has even made a stab at demonstrating) he must be worse at some other aspects of being a grand prix driver because he's now a measly 8 points up in the championship at virtually the half point of the season when he has had, on balance, ...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen

I feel very tempted to create a thread called “Lewis Hamilton’s overrated racecraft” In my opinion, Hamilton’s wheel to wheel prowess is incredibly overrated. Hamilton’s racecraft is incredibly overrated. He’s either overly cautious or stupidly clumsy. He doesn’t know how to walk the line like Alonso and Verstappen do. It's a fact that Hamilton has beaten a better cast of characters within his own team (Alonso, Button, Rosberg) and a better driver than Mika (Vettel), the best rival the grid had to offer Schumacher during his best years, in another team. I'd actually like to have it out about Mika vs. Seb, and mods you can excise the following into its own thread if you feel that is the best course. He's had a strange career. Schumacher seemed fully formed at 25 or so and didn't really develop much if at all past that point. The greatness of Hamilton is his race pace. It’s hard to find many races where he had a race pace deficit to his team mate in a legitimate head to head. China 2018 (maybe) Russia 2017 (probably Hamiltons worst ever race in terms of pace) Monaco 2017 (maybe) Austria 2015 - the only time Rosberg pull...
