Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I think this should settle the debate on Ocon vs Gasly... This is their respective team bosses commenting on them Ocon https://www.essentiallysports.com/f1-news-ocon-no-lesser-than-ferraris-sainz-or-any-other-so-called-2nd-drivers-alpine-f1-ceo/ Gasly https://us.motorsport.com/f1/news/gasly-one-of-t...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I don't find it at all hard to rate Ocon at Button's level. Button gets overrated particularly by Hamilton supporters for what he achieved at McLaren. Button shouldn't have been able to beat Hamilton in 2011 or out-point him across their three seasons together. It took the perfect storm of: Hamilto...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I've got Ocon ahead of Russell and Gasly Not for me and not for Mercedes, as for Gasly it's hard to place him, he's never beaten a top 10 driver and of course got a bad beating from Max, that still has to be negative but then again Ocon has beaten no one in F1. Ocon hasn't beaten a single team mate...

well if you compare first year back only, I'd say they are comparable. Ceratinly not where they left off, but not a million miles off and improved as time went on. Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I'm not saying anything about a peak Alonso... Where have you got that from? What evidence is there that Gasly drove better than Alonso in 2021? What are you basing your opinion on? OK - I'll provide my objective analysis, hopefully you can comeback with yours which isn't some poll I think we can a...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
Where is the evidence a "regressed" Alonso is inferior to the current Gasly? I fail to see any. Alonso would have to have regressed an awful lot. You can disagree but given the team bosses themselves think the way I do it's hardly an "outrageous claim" - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/verstappen...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I'm not surprised seeing as your logic equates to McLaren scored the only 1/2 all season therefore they must have the best car. In reality it's of course more complicated than that an individual odd races don't tell the full story. You made a statement Alpha Tauri was miles better than Alpine.. Tha...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
The Alpha Tauri was miles better yet Gasly driving his best season in F1(self admittedly) could only manage one podium yet Alpine managed a win and podium with a clearly regressed Alonso and probably the least promising of the young drivers in Ocon? Don’t understand this logic Gasly's best is a pil...

Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
I think you can make an argument that the Merc was 5th best.... Maybe... But the AT was miles ahead of the Alpine. With two good drivers they'd have very easily bested Alpine in the WCC. Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
At the end of the day Alonso was getting about the same points per race in the 6th best car as Schumacher was managing in the 4th best. Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
The 2012 final standings don't do justice to how well MS matched Nico Thing is Schumacher was famously insecure with his teammates. Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
Schumacher’s 2011 and 2012 seasons were much better than his 2010 season. In 2010 he struggled a lot. In 2011, he struggled in qualifying but was very comparable to Rosberg in performance on race day. In 2012, he matched Rosberg on both Saturdays and Sundays. Re: Schumacher's comeback vs. Alonso's comeback
Difference is Schumacher's team-mate finished higher than him with almost twice the number of points. Alonso's team-mate didn't. I won't draw too many conclusions but we can certainly conclude that Schumacher had a better car in 2010 (compared to to the rest of the field) than Alonso in 2021. And a...

Much fanfare has been made of Alonso's comeback in 2021 but let's look at the results objectively.. Re: Schumacher's 2006 vs Hamilton's 2021
I end up with 9 for Renault and 8 for Ferrari. I have reviewed my rankings and was generous to Ferrari. Its 9-8 to Ferrari. Re: Schumacher's 2006 vs Hamilton's 2021
Based on my memories of 2006, I would say Schumacher was considered still to be faster than Alonso.. His raw pace was phenomenal but his consistency wasn't as good as his absolute prime.. But i think anybody would have struggled to say Alonso had more raw pace than Schumacher in 2006.. I'm afraid ca...

Re: Who's going to be champion?
This is Hamilton's to lose but IMO it wouldn't be the best driver of the year winning it.. The Merc has been dominant package which can be seen buy how close Bottas has been to Lewis even though he is treated like a guinea pig.. Re: Will Verstappen and Hamilton collide at Abu Dhabi?
You've assumed Max would have won Britain and that Lewis wouldn't have gained any further places at Monza. 1. Yes, based on the sprint race. Also based on the fact that Hamilton was barely any faster than Leclerc on yellows. 2. I gave Lewis 2nd place in Monza with Max in 4th place, that's where the...

Re: Will Verstappen and Hamilton collide at Abu Dhabi?
It's possible that Hamilton may have marginally better race pace though. I hope that Lewis has enough race pace to win, but I am doubtful. Early analysis shows the track is still rear limited even with the layout changes, favoring Red Bull. Hope Merc has a DNF..they are due one to even out the luck...
