Re: Canada 2019: Vettel Penalty

I just realized that Ricciardo did in fact compare the incident to Monaco 2016: "If he pulls a little further to the left, he'll spin. When he brakes on the grass, he'll spin too. There was not much room for Lewis but still enough.I had an identical situation with Lewis in 2016 Monte Carlo. He had ...

Re: 2019 Mercedes vs. Ferrari vs. Red bull

Engine performance is exaggerated. Supposedly Ferrari making half a second on Mercedes ? But still Mercedes are dominating. Mercedes not only have engine and party modes. They have the best car as well since 2014. If it rains they still have an advantage. Max performance last year was pretty averag...

Re: Best F1 driver ever?

I think one thing I said wasn't clear: when I said the best drivers always get the best cars, I didn't mean only the best drivers get those cars. Of course there are the no 2's as well, like Coulthard, Massa, Webber who as we discussed are not greats. I am not ranking these drivers, only those who'...

Way to shift goal posts there. Having had some luck doesn't mean he was lucky to beat Vettel. You are getting confused. But yes, he has had some luck, like Baku, rain in Singapore or the fact that Ferrari got it wrong in a few races. This does not detract from the fact that he also suffered DNF's d...

You can argue both ways, but at the same time only one of these drivers keeps delivering and answering the critics year on year. We really need to wait until they retire for the full picture but beating Vettel in the Ferrari last season is right up there. Every season that goes by its harder to arg...

I don't think you did, no. I'm asking what you feel is the criteria for a car to be considered equal to another and you haven't answered that. I've stated on multiple occasions that I think cars are too close to be able to exclude the driver from the equation so I'm comfortable that I'm not one who...

agree. i think its highly likely a red bull merc hybrid era car would have claimed a couple of titles maybe more. the mercs were clearly more then just the engine but maybe they have never had the best chassis/aero on the grid and now they have been caught and overtaken. it has been a very unmerc l...

Lol this conversations of Vettel vs Leclerc are quite funny and sounds like musings of a 6 year old as its not based on evidence rather what people want to happen. Vettel had one bad year vs Ric. How do you know it was a "bad year"? They only had 1 year together. We know Ric is nowhere near the driver Max is Evidence? , so how did Ric beat Vettel if not for having a superior car? Re: Vettel's 4 Championships

I think people are criticizing vettel too much for 2014. Yes, Ricciardo was new to the car, but the rules changed things so much that year, that the car was effectively nearly as new for Vettel as changing team was for Ricciardo. Vettel had been used to such a different car before. It wasn't a good...

he also disagreed with the idea that the Ferrari was the equal of the Mercedes, so if you're going to reference him you need to take the full context. A clarification for any pedantic types out there, that's 8/9 team principals who can vote for him, as they can't vote for their own drivers, so Toto can't vote for him or Bottas. That makes a perfect score 225, so Hamilton got 8 wins and 1 second place. Who do we think that's from? Cyril Abiteboul ...

With the current pit wall and team management, it would have been 2012 story in favour of Hamilton even if it was Alonso at the helm. Vettel is the prototypical German. Give him pole position and he'll carefully guide these tyre conservation machines (F1 race cars) across the line first more times than not. I suppose an appropriate question to ask would be; what manner of heroics can restore Vettel's reputation at this point?
