Re: I am calling it now, Charles Leclerc will win the WDC
Way too much hype for unproven Leclerc, he was the best driver on the grid in the eyes of many vocal fans at the start of the reason, based on a single season in a Sauber against Ericsson, it doesn't add up. Obviously he's good and maybe a future world champ, but that isn't going to be easy while Ha...

Re: What Is the Highest WDC Ranking for a Paying Driver?
If we're admitting that drivers who begin their careers as pay drivers can become World Champions, why is there any stigma about beginning your career as a pay driver? I think the stigma comes when the pay driver has a less than exceptional junior career, but then again plenty of junior series cham...

Re: Women's only series proposed
I think it could possibly be a good idea to allow talent an outlet to develop and from a marketing point of view to get more girls into motorracing, but I'm not sure the world in 2017 and beyond would let it happen without a big fuss over womens rights and not being considered equal to men.

I think you have a different definition of tier 1 driver if a world champion who was able to demolish the entire field in an Arrows is not considered tier 1, aka Damon Hill. One does not have to have the track record of Schumacher or Senna to be considered top class.

Re: Boring Ranking Thread for F1 Racers
I definitely don't rate Sainz so highly as the hype train around here, and how can you when he's never been at the sharp end of the grid competing? He has outclassed a severely mentally defeated Kvyat. I think the top 5 are Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Ricciardo and Verstappen but they are all really s...

Re: Should Bottas be getting nervous?
Why would he be getting nervous? His team mate is one of the greatest F1 drivers in history, he's doing a lot better vs Hamilton than Raikkonen is doing against Vettel. All Mercedes need is a good number 2 driver to take home the constructors, and they have pretty much already sealed the deal on tha...

I feel sorry for Palmer, he gets stick for being slow but Renault have basically delivered him a broken car for the whole season, Sainz will now be stuck with that if these rumours are true.

It's hard to argue anything than this list right now. Hulk, Perez, Ocon, maybe Sainz are all really good but it would be a hard push to put them above any of those 5.

Well it's fairly clear what happened to anyone paying attention. Vettel accelerated out of the corner and got caught out because Hamilton maintained his very low speed. Vettel was basically caught sleeping in autopilot expecting Hamilton to accelerate and when that didn't happen it was too late and ...

I'd love to be able to run a race as a ghost alongside real cars/drivers, it would require a lot of software development though. Codemasters have the current F1 licence, they don't use laser scanned circuits nor do they provide simulation level physics. It's very possible and would prove popular I t...

It looks like it was designed by an artist and not an aerodynamicist/engineer. I think the Halo only really helps in stopping runaway wheels, imagine a car nose came up over the top and jammed itself between the halo and the driver... At least this new screen will alter the course of a tyre in most cases without any of the risks of the halo. I think we should just leave the ca...

Beating the 2004 cars over one lap has been happening for years already, in 2011, 2012, absolutely in 2016. Di Resta is at least as good as a well past his prime Massa, probably better. But Di Resta isn't a good reference for the team as he hasn't been driving the car for the last few years as Massa has. I don't see why Massa would take the offer though, he's not winning any races with Williams and he was...

I think 36 is not old enough to lose speed, most drivers who get older are losing motivation/focus rather than speed, they lose the burning passion for it, causing them to not fully commit mentally. Driving is not something that really requires you to be super young, in the 1990s it was common to se...
