Re: Toro Rosso in talks to rebrand 2017 Renault engine
It doesn't have to do with associating, it probably has to do with money. They see Red Bull can pull it off, they just try the same. Selling the ''engine naming rights'' is lucrative. Wondering which company it will be though.

Re: Alfa Romeo back to F1?
It might boost the perception of Alfa's poor reliability. Or is that part of the charm they want to keep? To be honest Fiat would be weird. They might have racing history, but you don't buy a Fiat because they are sexy or drive fast. There is a reason why they market the sport version as Abarth and ...

The idea of the first line wouldn't work on it's own if there is no rule to state the driver has to get on the throttle, which is tough to check. The lead driver knows others can't overtake, there is no incentive to go full out at that point.

Won't this decrease the action? Right now there is a balance between qualy and race setup. If the difference is already partly neutralized in the first race, the grid of the second race will start according to the pace of the first race. I think we will have a nice procession then for the second rac...

Of course. I'm not suggesting Red Bull did the wrong thing. I am sure from Verstappen's perspective though he would rather have stayed out. In interviews he said there was no other option because his tyres would not last till the end. I think Daniel and Max are so well matched, that overtaking in e...

I guess when looking at the poll results we can conclude that there is a possibility that there are some rogue Haas mechanics betting on the team scoring 0 points in Malaysia. They must have made quite some money if they made this bet after the Australian GP. They might have tried it a few different...

Really glad about the standing starts. About the engines, it doesn't say anywhere if this is for this or next season, so I assume it is for this season. Were there any other drivers likely to do the same Lewis did?

In a Dutch interview with Max (by an interviewer who obviously says he did nothing wrong) he said: ''They destroyed my race, so I won't just let them past, I'll rather drive them off track.'' (translated). He has a lot to learn in this respect, I hope the team will help him.

Third thought: Even with a car as reliable as it could be, what if a component blows? What if Driver A loses it and hits Driver B in a way that Driver B could basically have done nothing to avoid it? I'd feel it was a bit unfair punishing those drivers. With an F1 calendar of 20 or so races it can ...

Combine the circuits or parts? Would be fun though as the pit crews would have to catch a bullettrain or helicopter after every stop to go to the next pit lane. Or some more durable tyres of course.Blinky McSquinty wrote:.....

And I think we can all agree it's not Rosberg/Hamilton who got lucky/unlucky, but Nasr. The weather gods disfavoured him massively by not opening the floodgates after his p1.

And the Safety Car, surely that is ripe for having stickers all over it? Safety car is already sponsored (Mercedes Benz / AMG) and Allianz stickers. It's not that bad though as mentioned above, some Americans sport events are unbearable to watch. In F1 only a few sponsors are mentioned explitically.

Would be sad to see Manor opening their van.
Agree on the trophies, it should be a solid and nice piece. Of course some innovation/experimentation is ok, but it should still shout 'WINNER!'. It just doesn't seem right when they throw some of the trophies that easily in the air.

What I find hard now is evaluating the drivers. For instance: Perez went off in Austria. Mistake? Later you learn it was due to brakes. Drivers losing time compared to his teammate? Later you learn it had to do with some settings being wrong or a driver saving brakes/whatever. Let us and the driver ...

C4 says it's about money. You don't have to repaint the black curbs as the tyre marks don't show.
Wondering how much money we're talking about, if you imagine how much money it costs in total.
