Re: Sebastian Vettel to leave Ferrari at end of season
Put simply, Ferrari thought they were getting Schumacher Two and they didn’t. The absence of Todt and Brawn didn’t help.

Well folks. I fell in love with f1 along about 1953-4 when the tires were skinny and the drivers were fat. I’ve always been a fan of Ferrari but this years hype finally did me in. The pre season “Ferrari is on it this year has finished f1 for me.

I can't imagine overturning a win especially one at Monza to favor Ferrari. But a little less pressure in the left rear tire would be an advantage there. Been to LeMans twice, 88 and 99, Monza twice, 89 and 97. Imola once, 94 sadly. Finally got to Indy (after listening to the radio or watching on TV since 1952) three years ago. First year for the new cars. It was incredible. Go if you can.

Since the car has become 90%, maybe 95% of the equation the question is probably irrelevant. But here goes anyway. Never had the problem. Favorite drivers, Billy Vukovich, AJ Foyt, Jochen Rindt, Mario Andretti, and Michael Schumacher. See what I mean.

Four. F1 needed a new hero/multiple champion. He couldn't be driving a Ferrari. Hence Vettle and Red Bull. It's why their traction control was allowed.

What Mattiacci was doing is what any new manager does in his position. Start separating the wheat from the chaff. Or make the crew think that's what you are doing. Hence the clipboard. You can bet that if anyone at Maranello was in a comfort zone or phoning it in last week they aren't this week.

About the rules, I thought the change to the mini V8 was stupid. Cost the earth to develop the new engines when simple airflow restrictors on the V10's would have slowed the cars. If that's what was desired. The new regs seem just as dumb. It's F1 folks, it's supposed to be about the best drivers in...

The cars are ugly. Some have done a better job that others disguising the looks with the paint scheme. Like Williams. But the cars are ugly. I don't much care what a race car sounds like if it goes fast but good God the cars are ugly.

If you want real technical innovation toss the entire current rule book (with the exception of the crash test/safety regs) in the round file. Replace with: 1. It fits in a box this big. 2. It can consume this much energy in a 300km race. 3. All the energy must be cared in the vehicle at the start of...
