Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy
At the end of the day, all (?) the great WDCs have had this same attitude. The FIA eventually tried to stop this after 1997, but this only taught future drivers to be less obvious in the future.... Everything changed as a result of Schumi, and he is still the GOAT IMO. And I've rejoined this forum a...

Schumacher jumped back into the 1999 Ferrari after 3 months out the car and out qualified Irvine by 1 and 1.5 seconds in the final 2 rounds. That tells you all you need to know about Irvines 1999 season... He was in the title race because Hakkinen had 5 DNFs, Irvine had 1 and of course Schumacher b...

The fact nothing has come out regarding Raikkonen and Ricciardo's contracts for next year suggests to me there could be more to the Ferrari link than many of us may have believed. Kimi being so bad-tempered at the team order given, also makes me wonder whether he's been told that his contract is no...

I sit corrected, weird decision then Just a clever way to look like you're giving a very harsh penalty without actually doing anything. This is frequently stated, and I disagree with it every time. Taking away Schumacher's lifetime legacy - his points and wins - was not the point of the penalty, an...

Re: Shower Thought: Constructor points instead of grid penal
This doesn't really work. Imagine this scenario: its five races to go and Ferrari don't have a realistic chance of winning the WCC because Kimi has crashed too often, but Vettel has been consistent and picked up a couple of wins and is 20 odd points behind Lewis and Max who are neck and neck (as ar...

So one driver thinks he could help bring 6 tenths and yet people refuse to believe that drivers have an effect at developing cars. Yeah sure, it's baloney. At the end of the day, there is no doubt (?) that Alonso has a grudge against Seb, and Seb probably feels the same way as a result of Alonso's comments and actions. They don't need to like each other - just race the same way against each other as they would any other driver! Lewis has (I think) give...

At the end of the day there's little difference between Alonso, Vettel and Hamilton. Alonso's problem has always been his tendency to blame everyone else (even to the point of blackmail)... Making him far less acceptable to the top teams at the time. His (and Hamilton's) one-sided 'feud' against Seb...

Both Schumi and Alonso drove brilliantly throughout (?) '06, whereas in '07 all four contenders made some serious mistakes IIRC. Same in '08 when neither Lewis or Massa had stellar seasons. While I believe that Hamilton just, just, just has the edge over Vettel, I don't think its a big enough edge to mask any performance detriment in the car compared to the Ferrari, and thus I pretty much take the drivers out of the equation when it comes to comparing the cars. Qualifying is a bit mur...

The FIA tried their absolute best to slow down Ferrari in the early 2000's and Red Bull in the early 2010's. They haven't really made much of an effort (surprisingly) to slow down the Mercedes engine in recent times. They could probably find something illegal in every car if they looked hard enough...
