Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Tsunoda seemed to have fairly dismal race pace compared to Gasly. He went from a Pit stop clear of Gasly to being far enough behind for Gasly to have a free stop. Did he have damage? I think he backed off annoyed. Because they don't the switch and then he said he can go faster but he's stuck in Gas...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix

On the disappointing side, the obvious choices are Bottas and Stroll. However, I want to add Tsunoda: after the two start chaos, he was so much ahead of Gasly and still he ended up being clearly beaten again. He is not really fast (on top of making too many errors and permanently shouting at his tea...

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

Realistically Max should still finish second if he's fit to restart and they've had time to repair the car. 2nd hardest track on the calendar to overtake.... It would take a hell of a drive. I doubt that the Haas, Williams and Alfa will be difficult to overtake for a Red Bull. Tsunoda and Gasly wil...

Lewis was stopped in the pits and couldn't get away. There was absolutely nothing stopping Max and Perez overtaking Lewis. You surely see the difference? Lewis was flooring it on straights where the RB cars might pass him. Then almost stopping where they couldn't. Think about what you are saying, H...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

I think Mikey is right here. It is difficult to think about a greater driver (different to better) that never had a championship contending car. I find it difficult to come up with names. Maybe, Hans-Joachim Stuck could be a candidate and I may need to check the cars that Chris Amon was driving. Whe...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

The thing is though Max is very aggressive in all scenarios. I don't see how you can compete with that except for backing out when the risk is too high (which Hamilton has done on multiple occasions) and matching the aggression at the right moments - easier said than done. In this case Hamilton was...

During the last ten/twelve years how many drivers got a "championship contending car" ? Some happy years four, or else only two. If you don't take into account the obvious subservient n° 2 drivers, it reduces the number to 1 or 2. Such is the state of F1 that I wouldn't bet on any of the current "b...

Re: Formula E

I do share a lot of the frustrations with FE that many others do. For one thing, the power overuse penalties. The cars are limited on how much power can be sent to the wheels at any given moment, but hitting a bump and taking off for a fraction of a second is deemed worthy of punishment, because th...

Is there any way Red Bull could claim some money back or get a budget increase for the season if they can prove that Lewis should have received a larger penalty? They are saying that it's something like £1.8million worth of damage which is quite a bit for one crash! Plus, if they have issues with t...

Good points. If it's possible to extract him from his Merc contract would Russell take a Red Bull drive in 2022 or would he wait for Merc to see if they came back in 2023. The Redbull is a better car simples, even Perez has had decent weekends after messing up qualifying. Perez's record against Bottas is a losing one, 7-3 in qualifying and 6-2 in races where both finished. You're allowed to come back across as long as you leave a cars width of space in the direction of your second move. That's before the braking zone. In the braking zone you aren't permitted to make any defensive moves. In this instance Verstappen is allowed to close the gap down to the inside wall p...

Max turned right. In a right-handed corner. He left more than a car's width, which Lewis drifted wide in and hit him. Max turned right whilst Lewis was alongside him. He had plenty of room to take a slightly wider line but he chose to turn more sharply, which caused the incident. Max has only himse...

Racing incident for me -- 60/40 with Verstappen taking the 60 in my view. It's a racing incident because both drivers were partially at fault. That line he took with Leclerc was a perfect exemplification of how he SHOULD've done in the first instance with Max. Is the Williams among the top 5 cars? It's rumoured Checo will stay with RB for '22. However, RB are insisting on a 1-year contract whereas Checo wants a multi-year contract. This disagreement is nothing too big but probably delaying the announcement. I fear an extension will happen. As it means no in-team competition at RBR whatsoever...
