Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Comparing two completely different Massa's here is selective storytelling at best. Massa was on the road to retirement at Williams - would anyone dare make such a judgement about Raikkonen in Alfa vs Raikkonen in McLaren? Massa was significantly younger at Williams than Räikkönen is now. Furthermor...

Shows how straw man your argument is... No point responding to this How? I am just correcting a wrong statement by you. It is a fact that Russell did not beat Bottas. Anybody looking at Massa and Bottas objectively can see that Massa had to fight tooth and nails for his wins with prime Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Vettel, Webber, Schumacher, Rosberg . Massa never had the luxury of a car where the lead driver could lap the entire field of cars .. Comparing Massa’...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Massa's deficit to Schumacher was not significantly different than Barrichello's and Irvine's. Thus, it is plausible that Bottas > Massa = Barrichello = Irvine. I'm reasonably sure this is inaccurate. I don't have the numbers offhand, but I thought Massa was something like ~0.6s off Schumacher. The...

A lot of people think that one was Ricciardo's fault, to be fair. I think Barcelona was a 50/50 incident. I can't put all the blame on either driver. How, where's the evidence? I've done some maths and think I worked it out. Why are we saying Schumacher's crash with Bruno was Schumacher's fault? It was a carbon copy of Max/Ricciardo at Baku, the driver in front was weaving in the braking zone. It was Bruno's fault. Yeah, that statement is just certifiably wrong. Also, (along with Kimi circa 2003-2007) Button is clearly better than Barrichello. In their time together, the podium count was 12 to 7, and the win count 7 to 2. And every time their car was good (2006, 2009), Jenson would rise to the occasion and tr...

Re: The Official Sir Lewis Hamilton thread

I think Schumacher would have done clearly better than Hamilton in 2011 and 2013. In 2011 in particular, I think that prime Michael would have challenged for the WDC. The RB7 was no more dominant than the MP4/13, and Vettel similar to Hakkinen. I would question how Schumacher would have being able ...

Hakkinen's damage in terms of his racing ability is unknown and being close to death doesn't mean he wasn't fully recovered as a racing driver - see Massa who insists he was fine afterwards, as does Rob Smedley. Surpassing in numbers and surpassing in status are quite different - for many (including myself), Hamilton struggles to make the top 5 GOATs, let alone the singular best.
