Re: 2014 Monaco GP Practice and Qualifying Thread
I would like to think that ANY driver that truly made a mistake like that would leave the car out of the way and not immediately reverse to guarantee a disruption to everyones last Q3 run. Indefensible.

Re: Did Vettel Cost Ricciardo The Podium?
Seemed to me that Rocky told seb to let Dan through, Seb said stiff fairy cakes. Then Rennie told Dan to close up and pass Vettel without Vettel's compliance on the TO. Then they kind of lied to Seb about the different strategies, tricking him into thinking that somehow Dan being on a two stop and h...

For what its worth, I still think they will get shot down, but its pretty enlightening to see just how far people will go to deliberately misinterpret the regulations for even the tiniest gains. But what misinterpretations of the regulations would that be? The Technical Regulations state clearly th...

Re: UPD: Ricciardo DSQ for breach of fuel flow limit, RB app
I haven't found any justifiable reason for this fuel flow rate bullshit, especially when the teams are limited to a total fuel amount aswell. Is it just for qualifying? I see no point of doing it in the race, I see even less point doing it when the sensors used are the top of the line and yet still ...

I posted elsewhere that I thought their reliability issues were possibly because they were pushing the envelope much more than the others. Rather than going for a less risky, faster to setup solution, they chose the harder path and are likely to reap the benefits later in the season. Although Mclare...

Have to admit I'm amazed at most of the responses here. Everyone is falling over themselves to admonish Ricky for attempting an ambitious move instead of opting to hold position and perhaps pass at an easier spot. Overtakes on the outside of fast corners are now apparently "a joke" because there's m...

Re: Ricciardo upset over 130R penalty
Yeah he should have known not to be brave and should have waited to pass in the DRS zone like all good drivers. He went for it and nearly held it, kudos to him, the harsh penalty is only going to discourage drivers from taking risks which is at the heart of real racing.

It's fair to be upset, he completed the move on track and went off a bit after, and instead of being told to hand the place back he was given a 20 second penalty in effect which cost him like 4 places

There seems to be no limit to the justifications the Vettel devotees can come up with for his actions. It's infinitely more complicated that that, and simultaneously more simple. You can't simply cherry pick one thing that happened in that race (ie Vettel ignoring team orders) as a way of completely justifying his actions. Vettel was angry (at the world not himself) because he had made a mistake in c...

Ricciardo and Vettel ran the same test as they were both current drivers and weren't allowed to test development parts. And to suggest Vettel would ever not be giving 110% seems to fly in the face of everything we know about him a his ultra competitive nature.

Such a shame that this series has no constructors yet, with Mclaren providing all the cars. Would be amazing to see teams formed that were given an aerodynamic package/shell, but were allowed to use any battery/motor/ERS system they could fit in there as the only regulations.

Yeah the story is a little weak, especially when you consider he did 20 laps on the hard tyre in his last stint, he was never going to overtake Perez. I just think the way you shared points between them, especially when RIC finished in the points is bordering on ridiculous.

Like the concept, but don't like it when you get subjective with the points. Point in case, you were happy to give qualifying to JEV(when they were both unlucky with team strategy) , but thought points should be shared with RIC and JEV for the race because of this talk of a slow puncture that amazin...

I think it's more in terms of RedBull brand marketability, he wears big baseball caps, he's youthful looking, he seems fun and up for anything. That's because when you are driving an occasionally midfield car it's not all about results, it's about data and speed relative to your teammate.
Buemi and Alguersuari had arguably a better car than RIC or VER, and no opportunity to progress into the RB seat

Re: Vergne "thrashed my teammate"
The main reason JEV is overlooked is because of the way Redbull win races. They like to qualify first and lead from the front, as the cars aerodynamic design is best suited to clean air and not scrapping through the pack with DRS passes and lucky tyre strategy. Dan I clearly better suited to this, e...

That was kind of the point of asking the question, is Vettel that good? Or is it the car? Would Alonso beat Vettel in qualifying? It's impossible to know for sure but it's fun to speculate. Webbers reputation is based on putting a slow car above its rightful position, similar to Ricciardo.
