Re: Hamilton/Verstappen British GP 2021 Collision Discussion

The funniest thing to come out of the Red Bull protest is the joke nickname 'Whinger Spice' for Christian Horner. Regardless of how fair the criticism of him is, it's a pretty clever pun. Edit: to be clear, I don't think that it is productive to use these insults in the actual discussion of the pro...

Re: Hamilton/Verstappen British GP 2021 Collision Discussion

I find the action strange. Unless they have secret audio recordings of Hamilton saying he punted Max off deliberately there isn't really any evidence they can offer to change anything. The implication they have been hunting at is that Hamilton's speed was much higher than before and he wouldn't hav...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

I am curious as to the thoughts on this overtake, probably Verstappen's most famous overtake, on Leclerc at Austria, the move that defined "hard racing" Here, he was further back on entry to the corner, doesn't make the apex (much farther than Hamilton), makes contact with Leclerc and deliberately ...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Thanks for pointing out the Russell penalty Alien, and I agree the stewards do phrase it differently, although they don't use the word "wholly" in the case of Russell. They simply say "at fault". Still, the difference is there, and we are left to wonder in what respect they think Verstappen was par...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

I don't know whether the stewards indeed have the option to make a distinction between predominantly and totally, but being 100% at fault is also predominantly I would say. Also, the stewards didn't explain whether they laid any responsibility for the accident with Verstappen. I think that regardin...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

ChainBear has done his analysis of the incident, which as well as doing a thorough analysis and citing the rules and regulation, probably does just as good a job of explaining why there is such a split in opinion on the incident (after stripping away all the partisan people)

Joe Saward's take: The key question beyond all the yapping and griping is whether Max will do the same again if the circumstances occur, or whether he will have learned that Lewis is not going to be shoved out of the way. A line was drawn in the sand, if you like… If Max does not take that onboard,...

Apparently Wolff has said he has decided who will be in the other seat next year - but hasn't told anyone. I have switched from against to 'ehhhhhhh' - but the closest is to say 'in favour' I'm in favour because it's clear they are going to change the format, and this doesn't really change the format at all. However, Hamilton was taking the wider line he was entitled to, and that contributed to the collision. Maybe one should start the same poll on a Dutch forum and collate the results...
It's ok, the results of the poll aren't legally binding, and are a measure of opinion, not one of fact.

Would be nice but I don't think Mercedes has the pace. It really depends on their clean air race pace. While Hamilton has more Pirelli Sprint Kings than any other driver in F1 history, Verstappen got pole position with a gap of 1.430 seconds over second place, which is even bigger than the 1.427 second gap that Senna managed over Prost at Monaco 1988. They really are the GOATs.

George Russell for me. I'm surprised at the votes for Hamilton, while after FP1 it looked like a slam dunk for Red Bull in the cooler evening conditions the Mercedes had a clear edge.
