Re: So many questions
I agree. I think thought they had the front row in the bag and so thought they had margin to cover off a higher downforce set up in case it rained. They weren't set up for a charge through the field utilising the long straights like they actually had to do after the first pit stop.

Re: Could Mercedes change engine mode remotely?
I don't think they can. Remember the stories earlier this year about Nico using an engine setting in Bahrain that he shouldn't have and then Lewis repaying the favour in Spain. If Merc could have remotely changed the engine settings then wouldn't they have reset the engine mode after Nico and Lewis ...

Re: Williams Merchandise
Just a quick update in case anyone else is in a similar situation. After some chasing I have now found out that the shirts were made but didn't pass quality control and now they are unsure whether shirts for this season will be released/delivered. They have offered me a refund or swapping for someth...

Re: Williams Merchandise
I'm waiting for the replica Mens Shirt. When the shop first went live I noticed everything was in USD, the postage calculator seemed a bit expensive and everything was clearly labelled 'Pre Order' so I didnt bother. I then went back when it the site was a bit more sorted and I swear the shirt no lon...

Re: Mclaren Title Sponsor and Martin Whitmarsh
Good point. Maybe they couldn't find one that would just sponsor two thirds of a season before it they became Honda Mclaren Honda.

Mclaren Title Sponsor and Martin Whitmarsh
While watching FP1 and 2 today I noticed that there still wasn't a lot of logos on the Mclaren and remembered a few months back that Ron Dennis said a new title sponsor would be announced soon. I don't think I have missed an announcement and their website doesn't show a title sponsor so what happene...

Williams Merchandise
Not sure if this belongs here or in off topic so happy for it to be moved. Anyway, has anyone ordered and received any Williams Team wear? I know with the late announcement of their sponsors that they were a little slow off the mark getting their stuff launched but I have had an order pending for ab...

Re: Mercedes double MGU-K failure a bit fishy.
So now Mercedes have said that they dont know what caused it but they did see a rise in temperature. I stand corrected, its not an Electro Magnetic disruptor type weapon, must have been a laser! I will let them know my theory...
Anyway, hope they get it sorted soon.

Re: Can F1 cars restart their engines now with KERS/MGU-K
This idea/question came to me after the double MGU-K failure of the Mercedes which they couldn't reset. I wondered whether a full shutdown/reset of the system using their energy store may have brought the system back to life. Basically a 'Ferranti Reset' as I call it.

Can F1 cars restart their engines now with KERS/MGU-K
I dont think there is a regulation preventing having a starter motor, they simply dont have them due to weight saving and also with stall avoidance systems we rarely see a car stall now but.. 1. With the old KERS units that directly fed onto the engine crankshaft could it have been used to restart t...

Re: Mercedes double MGU-K failure a bit fishy.
When it happened I thought "Thats a bit odd" but also immediately I remembered the 'sonic binoculars' (I think thats what they were called) from the 1980-90s where special binoculars used at a horse race would directionally transmit high frequency noises to upset running horses. I imagined a spectat...

Mercedes double MGU-K failure a bit fishy.
Does anyone else think that, considering the Mercedes MGU-K is pretty solid, to have two fail on the same lap of the same race is a bit odd. Obviously these cars are extremely technical and complicated, does anyone think that an external signal/interference could have messed up their systems. I seem...

Re: New Member introduction thread
Hi. Just joined but have been reading the site and forums for a few years now. I'v been following F1 since my teens in the mid 90s and followed Williams. My job then took me away for a bit and I wasnt able to really follow it. When I came back to it I followed Mclaren mainly due to Mr Hamilton who I...
