Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Bottas I suppose I'd like to say Hulk but he should have copped a worse penalty than just 5 secs. Stewarding gone wrong again This. Hulk basically cheated and gained a position with a move that wasn't even remotely legal. Then gets a 5s "penalty" which, given that he was comfortably quicker than Pe...

Rosberg: Sainz is as good Max

This was after Japan when Rosberg decided he would retire if he won the championship. If Sainz is Rosberg's recommendation i think the Mercedes staff will be influenced by that.

Remember this was a double yellow, not a single. "Two waved yellows at the same post indicates great danger ahead. Drivers must slow down and be prepared to stop" I've just watched Rosberg's lap. I don't see how lifting off slightly before a deceleration zone can be considered doing that. He still t...

I really don't understand how some of you think is Rosberg fault...is crazy. At best it was a racing incident... By looking at the regulations and applying them? I agree that Rosberg technically broke the rules, however i think Hamilton is responsible for the actual crash. He chose drive over the g...

Re: Rosberg Vs Hamilton Spanish gp crash. The debate
Hamilton pulled into an ever closing gap, then he failed to back out when it was clearly not going to work. Rosberg's defensive driving was questionable, but Hamilton 100% caused the crash.

You're right. Wolff said it was costing Hamilton about 1 second per lap. It's on the f1 website.j man wrote:I think I recall someone at Mercedes claiming in a post-race interview that the damage to Hamilton's car was costing him up to a second per lap. If it's true then Rosberg clearly had plenty in reserve.

It seems like a lot of people are forgetting that Ferrari may not have known what tyres Rosberg would be on. Going on the Medium was just as risky at the time considering Rosberg could have went on the SS.

Re: How Do We Know The True Ferrari Leading Edge Performance
In my opinion, it's very difficult to take Ferrari seriously in their bid to catch Mercedes if they cannot put a driver in the second Ferrari that is capable of challenging, pushing Vettel and keeping him honest. Vettel's brilliance notwithstanding, the caveat from the RB years was that Vettel eith...

So only 2 drivers have a chance of getting pole position in the last 1 minute 30?
Hate it!
Watching 5 or so drivers all going for it at the last second was great.

Rosberg (old engine), Perez (30s ahead of Hulkenberg), Ricciardo (35s ahead of Kvyat)
I'm not sure what Vettel did to get the votes. He was no faster than Raikkonen and he couldn't get past many cars in the first stint.
This is coming from someone who voted for Vettel many times this season.

I would like to see Grosjean prove his mettle in a top team... I truly believe he is WDC material -though I would have to join the Tifosi (under sufferance). I completely disagree. I watched Kimi mess up at least one sector in almost every 2012-2013 Q3 session. Based on Grosean's qualifying times t...

He could have taken the corner alongside Raikonnen. He was leading and had more to lose from impact but I suspect he did not even see him from his comments. You can't expect a driver to see Raikkonen in that situation. Drivers glance in their mirrors a slit second before they turn in. Raikkonen was...

Re: Should Massa have been penalised?
I blame Massa for this crash. He did not give himself enough time and space to react to Ricciardo (who made a slight turn towards Massa, but was ahead).
Massa did a similar thing against Perez last year at Canada. He gave himself no chance to react to any slight move by the leading car.

Vettel makes no sense. He was only up there because he didn't make the pitstop he should have. Every other driver could've done it but fortunately not all teams are a bunch of dunces (except Williams). If Vettel had pitted he would have been around 3 seconds per lap faster with 13 laps to go. Before the safety car the reason Rosberg demanded mediums was to avoid any threat of the undercut from Hamilton, who was closing in on him and scheduled to pit first. Rosberg asking for mediums meant Hamilton was not allowed to pit first due to team policy.

Vettel did manage to put some pressure on Rosberg. It compromised his final stint but at least he had a go. Kimi did well enough, but if Vettel's Ferrari broke down Rosberg would have been under no pressure at all.
