Re: Ricciardo not ready to commit to new RB deal
Back on topic, I think there would be a clause in Ricciardo's contract that gives him an out if the team performs badly. If I remember correctly that Vettel had the same and I think his less than stellar last year at Redbull may of been intentional to enact this clause and enable his move. Now If I ...

Re: Jules bianchi Japanese grand Prix aftermath thread
If this was US racing we would of seen repeats of every angle of the incident as this is what fans crave isn't it? I don't think I have to name any recent incidents. In fact it's not limited to the US.... That's not one of the things I like about our news. People have a ghoulish fascination with se...

Re: Jules bianchi Japanese grand Prix aftermath thread
Sorry if it was already posted here but Brundle's take on the whole accident is interesting: Martin Brundle has often winced in commentary at the sight of recovery trucks coming onto the circuit having narrowly missed one and hit a marshal in similarly poor conditions at Suzuka in 1994. Here's his ...

Re: Jules bianchi Japanese grand Prix aftermath thread
I'm in two minds about the situation. Yes its tragic, yes more could be done to make it safer ie don't race in the wet, cranes every 100 meters to lift away cars, hardened roofs on cars etc But the risk involved in the sport is what excites the drivers, the teams, and the fans. I don't like hearing ...

Re: Who is worthy to partner Verstappen at Toro Rosso?
Hard to tell as an outsider looking in at Torro Rosso. They have a different yard stick to everyone else. I imagine the drivers devotion to the sport is important to them and they have to be fully focused (Someone in the team doesn't like DJ's). Sainz or Lynn are the obvious candidates. Maybe a shoo...

Re: Vettel leaves RBR, for Ferrari? Kyvat replaces in 2015
If Kimi and Vettel was the line-up for RBR or Ferrari at the start of the season I would have said hehe that might give fireworks. Now 10 months further I'm like oh dear have Ferrari lost the plot completely. Is it wise to promote Kvyat that early to RBR? And I really feel gutted for Bianchi. Surel...

Makes me think that Vettel may of not have been giving it 100% this year so as to enable this clause. The clause could of been in his contract since his first WDC.

Re: Ricciardo v. Vergne: Were they evenly matched?
When I was watching STR I used to think Ricciardo was the better qualifier, but Vergne the better racer - Ricciardo would normally drop backwards and Vergne make up places after qualifying. However, based on this season I wonder if maybe Ricciardo would struggle against the faster cars further up t...

He might even make the news in Australia. Wish indycar still came to the Gold coast. It was typical tightarseness that it was ditched for A1 GP which turned out to be a fart in the wind. Now all they have is taxi racing and ban a on tits on balconies.

I think McLaren are still looking for another Mika, ie hiring Kimi and Heiki so I think they would be looking at Bottas. Certainly more so now that Dennis is back. Maybe more attention will be aimed at this sensor now that its proven to be inaccurate. why not install an measured orifice and have a maximum fuel pressure setting to suit.

Aussies will know the Holden Torana - others can google it.
Even after owning 4 Torana's and a Monaro over the years I'm not sure I could name my child after them. Maybe Tori for short?

Re: Is this the end of F1 as we know it?
I think there has always been an element of this. The sport consists of the top ten or so drivers in the world, and the rest are there to fund it. I find that money does have a way of filtering out the best from the rest. Sponsors may support a driver for a year or two until they realise putting aro...

Re: Vergne "thrashed my teammate"
I haven't seen JEV confirmed for next year yet, its one thing to say he has given up since missing out on the RBR drive, but he still has to fight for his seat. We know Torro Rosso's history when it comes to driver changes. On another note, wouldn't it be funny if TR came out of the box with a quick...

Re: Vergne "thrashed my teammate"
Just dug this up again. Since Dan has been confirmed for RBR, he has been racing like he hasn't got a drive for next year. JEV has hardly been seen. If JEV isn't careful he might not even have a drive next year, as Redbull have plenty of other drivers in the wings, and they can be quite ruthless. Da...

While I'm not into conspiracies the timing is not very good. Nothing in F1 really surprises me anymore and the notion that the terms are entirely focused on results is nonsense, too many political chess games going on.

He is lucky that there is a major rule change next year. The former WDC drivers would be wary of making a team switch only to be made to look like fools when their former team does better. Touring cars are only modified taxi's to me. When ever I have watched BTCC they don't seem to be able to race with out bringing out the safety car out every couple of laps due to some silly crash. I don't think there will be a 2nd driver clause in the contract, I don't think it would fit in with the Redbull brand image. That's not to say there won't be a dominant driver. He should announce his retirement with dignity rather than get axed. Ferrari have been more than generous to him, especially by their standards.
Maybe he could drive a Ferrari in the WEC to get his racing kicks and spend some time at home with his family.
