Re: Alonso and Button confirmed for 2015
One other thing I forgot to say was that if Button does get thrashed by Alonso, I think it's a shame that Alonso's reputation won't really change. The striking thing about Alonso's team mate domination is not the points total, but the fact that neither Raikkonen or Massa out-raced him on occasion (I...

Re: Alonso and Button confirmed for 2015
Ron already said they'd be treated equally. But we've been here before with Lewis. Writing Jenson off before a wheels been turned.... Yeah, these predictions are way premature. I expect Button to measure up to Alonso similarly to how he measured up against Hamilton. Right now we have several yardst...

Re: Which signing of Alonso's teammate that excites you more
Button/Alonso excites me more because I'm a Button fan, but I don't know what to think after Kimi's match-up with him. I expected it to be close, but it wasn't. We all know that car/driver compatibility plays a big factor in how drivers perform - Look at Webber/Vettel in 2011, then compare it to 200...

Noted but taking the right strategic calls whether some lucky or not is completely different to being a fast driver in the wet. The aim of the game is not to drive the fastest, but to reach the finish line first. Any skill set that allows a driver to do that has to be considered when assessing thei...

Re: How good is Hamilton? Compare him to his teammates
All the stats really show is that he was much better than a backmarker (Kovalainen), very marginally better than a career midfield journeyman (Rosberg), evenly matched with a good quality driver (Button), and evenly matched with a great (Alonso), who happened to be having the worst season of his ca...

Re: So, in which years did the car NOT make the champion ?
It's worth pointing out that the Brawn was only ever dominant in Button's hands. I also think the 2009 Red Bull is under-rated, but Vettel wasn't experienced enough to make the most of it.

Fairly equal with Alonso.. reflected in the points/wins A little better than Nico.. reflected in the points/wins Significantly better than Heikki.. reflected in the points/wins Fairly better than Jenson.. not reflected in the points/wins due to having more DNFs (6 more) and more of the team issues....

Re: So now how good is Felipe Massa?
I think he's maybe a top 10 driver but not much better. I'd probably stick Massa in the third tier of drivers, where the top tier is Hamilton and Alonso and the second tier is Button, Ricciardo, Vettel, Rosberg and maybe Bottas. Massa and Raikkonen would head up the next tier down from that probably...

I'm sure John would be livid his son is facing being unceremoniously booted out of F1. However I'm not sure I sympathise with Jenson as much as others do. He has had an amazing career and had chances some drivers can only dream of. His career looked to be over in F1 way back in 2008 but he got a se...

McLaren don't "owe" him exactly, but Button would be totally justified in being completely tiddled off with the whole situation because he has been treated poorly. In the purest form of the question, they don't owe him anything. He fulfilled his end of the contract and they fulfilled theirs. Morally...

Would be great to see Jenson make the podium tomorrow. I'd currently rank him in tier 2 of the F1 drivers. I'd have Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso and Kimi in tier 1. But thats not taking away from him, I'd still consider Jenson to be a great driver. It took some guts back in 2009 to leave a team who you...

I don't think they're any more or less important than any other team, so from that point of view I wouldn't care. However, I do dislike Ferrari a lot. I hate it when they win and love it when it all goes tits up for them, and that's why I want them to stay. Having a good rival team is half the fun.

I really don't understand. From 2010 onwards: 1) Canada 2011 - Everything that can be said has already been said. His best bet for another WDC is to stay at McLaren where he is the de facto team leader (until they sign Alonso). He wouldn't be able to beat Sebastien or Fernando, or Lewis in the same car IMO. Looks good so far, but it's way too early to tell yet. His decision to move/stay last season was always a long-term choice. No, I don't think they will because despite their record they will want to focus on 2014 instead. Button says those things probably because: 1) It's his job to put a positive spin on everything. Being negative makes the team and sponsors look bad. 2) Perspective. He has been in worse situations. He ...
