Re: When will everyone realize McLaren's wearing no clothes?
given that Honda runs it's engine program all by itself, it all depends on them. I think Mclaren builds a decent enough car so that Fernando could fight for a win or two. But it all depends what happens with the new engine. Still, the major problem is that RON isn't running the operations any more....

Formula 1 does not need the cutting edge of anything. The fastest car would be rocket propelled, with skirts in a fully enclosed body being sucked onto the track by extractor fans and with variable nozzles for the rocket engines like a Harrier Jet aircraft. The driver would be a passenger who was i...

The engines are vastly more expensive than those they replaced, so I agree with you that from a cost perspective they were a step in the wrong direction and have been counter-productive. However, they are much more powerful than the older engines, so the bit about being slower is not true. It is th...

Interesting quote from Alonso “I think the cars are different – slower, heavier… In China, the pace in the race was 1min 43 and in 2004 the pace was 1min 33, so it is 10secs difference. When you drive 10 seconds slower you don't have the same feelings. Almost sounds like Fernando is getting fed up w...

This is all a Bernie red herring. Mercedes is already reputed to be over 900hp, so just normal development will mean that they will be hitting 1000hp by 2017. It's just manipulating perception as usual from the poison dwarf. I don't think the actual engines (without the super expensive ERS systems)...

new tires are probably 3 or 4 seconds faster than those used in 2004, plus if they developed the V10's (and cars) up to 2015, we would be talking about 8 to 10 seconds a lap faster for the V10 carsnixxxon wrote:In 2004 the cars used grooved tyres, so I dont think it's exactly fair to make a direct comparison.
