Re: Barcelona Testing

Askcrofty stated that Rosberg was clocked at 208mph (just under 335kph) in testing, with no DRS

For reference - just seen a video of Ricciardo clocked at 360kph (224mph) with slipstream and DRS, at Monza in 2014.

Re: Flipping cars

The cars have lower downforce this year, so don't stick to the road as well

Is it not a sign of better, closer and more competitive racing? More wheel to wheel contact, as drivers are taking more risks and being more opportunistic?

Re: McLaren and Gillette?

Would a Honda title sponsor be out of the question, in advance of their engine partnership next year?

Or would Mercedes have a say in this?

Re: Drivers taking too long to report to their grid spots

As a side, I think that both of the Mercedes were parked at the end of the pitlane for around 2 minutes on Saturday before one of the qualifying sessions in order to get an early run, so I don't think that they are overly concerned about ticking over.

Corners that were no longer corners

Listening to Martin Brundle commentate on the Australian GP, it was interesting to hear him say that corners such as corner 2 at Albert Park were actually forgotten by the drivers as being a corner - it was easy to drive as it was a case of turn and accelerate, and the grip was there. However now, w...

Re: Bahrain winter testing 2014. part 2

Not sure if this has been noted by anyone elsewhere, and I haven't actually seen a video of him saying this - Button was interestingly quoted as saying: "I was with (Daniel) Ricciardo for several laps and he couldn't pass me on the straights," said the Briton at the end of pre-season testing in Bahr...

Re: Bahrain winter testing 2014. part 2

With over-heating being the main apparent reason for the Renault powered engines, would it not be worth basically removing all rear packaging, and trying a race distance just to make sure it can be done, and then reattach body panels step by step until overheating issues are resolved? Would it get t...

2014 Qualifying Theory

Hi everyone, I have had a thought regarding qualifying in 2014, which is based around my impression of how KERS will work in 2014. My impression is that KERS can be used for a percentage of its potential for a certain amount of time, so 100% for 20 seconds (or whatever it is), 50% for 40 seconds, et...
