Re: Anyone believe Ferrari signed Hamilton because Charles is a disappointment?
He has definitely underachieved for whatever reason. But he is a WDC material IMO. If get beat by Sainz and Hamilton somehow then I think Ferrari should drop him and look for Piastri or some other talent instead.

MO Sainz instead of Alonso would have been better option that too 2yrs deal. There are too many older drivers in F1. Stroll does make Alonso look better though.

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2024 Japanese Grand Prix
I do understand why so many have gone for Tsunoda, but I would argue that the car was pretty solid this weekend. ricciardo also looked pretty close for once in qualifying. P10 and P11 when neither driver are exactly a stand out in qualifying lap pace I think is more related to the car. Not to say i...

Re: 2024 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
Watching the highlights on youtube, really enjoyed it. Hopefully we get more 2pitstop races. Only 1 DRS zone but still due to abrasive track, different strategies we got great racing. It also help that Suzuka is probably the best track. Drivers were making genuine mistakes on dry track. Leclerc and ...

Re: 2024 Japanese Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
I think Perez did surprisingly well. It is a great track but I think it is going to be straight forward race so the podium finish is likely going to be same. Ferrari pace in qualifying was disappointing especially Leclerc. Midfield and fight for P10 is going to be interesting though, there is not mu...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Yes, I also think RBR wants to keep Perez, they may consider Sainz as well. Horner likes Ricciardo but he has to beat Yuki in at least 10 races to be considered. RB will retain Yuki for 2025, he suggested himself that he wants to improve his reputation to be considered by others. Honda will back him...

Re: Silly Season 2025
IMO Lawson is way overrated and a downgrade to Ricciardo. His 5 F1 races were definitely better than expected but he was given 2yrs in F2 and then last year in SF, Japan If he really was another Piastri I do not think RBR would have waited this long.

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
If Ricciardo was driving like Tsunoda, and Tsunoda like Ricciardo people would be asking when rather than if he was going to replace Perez. Especially today since Perez had no pace in the race. I think Ricciardo is not bad but he is probably surprised with Yuki`s pace. Something similar to Nyck las...

Bearman #1 Magussen #9,307,211 Mag's score is so impressive since no other driver gets away with scaring everyone else every time he's challenged without getting a Masi holiday Simply feisty driving on the edge, but not over it in my view. I think K Mag was the stand out performer even though he made some iffy moves. He was intentionally holding rest behind inspite of 2 penalty still had the speed to still only loose 1 place. Haas is the best midfield team. Ferrari as well had good pace and I think good performance from Perez as well.

Re: 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Ferrari have the speed, RBR advantage is in the race. Lot of people question Max qualifying pace but it is more that Leclerc has faster car in qualifying and Max is obviously in the races. It is good that times are close among teams.Vicky_balboa wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 5:14 pmLerclerc at the end of Q2 put in a faster lap than his Q3 time.

Max would not have got penalty for this. Norris had space and surely he knew Perez is making a move. In Singapore Max did similar and Russell turned into him and got a penalty but anyways Perez had the pace and should have made clear pass and got the podium.

Amazing performance from Norris. He could have challenged Max if he was not out in Q1 I think. Yuki too had impressive pace. He was with in 4secs to Norris and they both started behind. Piastri is amazing talent but he is very weak in the races. Both AT drivers were faster than him in the race.

Perez gifting everyone an extra place. I do not think RBR would be able to stop Max not to go for win even if Perez had taken the lead anyways. So another podium lost by Perez. He needs to finish P2 with somer respect now and forget about winning a race or beating Max.

I think Perez will have some good races and finish P2. Then next year they will evaluate his performance in first half and make a call on him, if he is really this bad they will temporary replace him with whichever driver in AT is doing well. For 2025 they will keep their options open.

There is no way Perez is this bad. They have to support to him, though if he fails to finish P2 this year he probably deserve to be out. Not sure Ricciardo deserves the spot either. He has to beat Yuki comfortable first so it will be interesting to see if he can even do that ?

I think the decision was made a while ago but Lawson is doing better than expected. He was pretty good in first half and but probably some 0.3secs slower per lap in second half on hard tyres.
