Re: 2 big crashes today.

Seen a replay of the Spa accident. Horrifyingly similar to the Hubert accident, I hope they don't overreact and butcher Raidillon over this. I hope they do whatever they need to do before another driver ends up seriously hurt or worse. To have an accident that so closely mirrored a fatal crash from...

Re: Is Ricciardo done?

Fine margins. If he'd been one metre wider at turn one, he'd have won yesterday. Definitely would've had a strong shot at a podium, given he would've been running in/around Ocon and Vettel. There is a video doing the rounds after he'd parked up at the end of the race, and his body language can only...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Hungary 2021

It's rare that I have the time to post my own votes, which is somewhat ironic, but I actually do today. Hamilton and Vettel - neither took out multiple cars at the start and both finished top three (even if Seb was DQ'ed). Verstappen and Norris - both Red Bulls and McLarens had their races ruined at...

Re: Could Hamilton have won the race with this tactic?

I came up with a theoretical way that Hamilton could have won the race (not possible in practice because the cars would have all broken down) but I was curious if it was a technically legal loophole. Basically, the pitlane doesn't get opened until the entire grid has passed, so if Hamilton had just...

Re: Could Hamilton have won the race with this tactic?

I had another thought: what would have happened if Lewis had stalled on the grid? I presume that they would have had the safety car drive past Lewis' stricken Mercedes and would have released the field from the pit lane behind it, but I'm going to assume there isn't anything in the regulations to ac...

Don't think this race will have a big impact on any potential decision, it had big consequences but the mistake was tiny in comparison. Agreed, and to expand on that, I don't think any one race (exceptional circumstances notwithstanding) is going to sway it. Mercedes have tonnes of data to make the...

As we head into the summer break I thought I'd do a little bit of a deeper dive into how the TMW scores stand. I believe that Gasly and Latifi have contracts. I think Gasly's contract was only for 2021, but with the very obvious caveat that Red Bull will have the option to extend it into 2022 if they wish. Latifi's contract was reported to be three years, so until the end of 2022. But I think it's safe to s...

Putting aside the debate of who was at fault (there is a whole thread for that here ) and opinions on the penalty Lewis received, I wanted to look ahead to the remaining races for the season. The Austrian vote was actually one of the most 'competitive' of the season so far. Did Alpine make a mistake extending Ocon's contract?

As we all know, in the build up to the French GP, Alpine rewarded Ocon's strong start to 2021/finish to 2020 with a new contract, keeping him with the Enstone team until the end of 2024. At the time the contract was made official, he had four points finishes compared to Alonso's three and had out-qu...
