Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
On the pre-race show in Australia three of the "commentators" talked down Kimi, said they didn't rate him and that Grosjean had dominated him in qualifying all year. Total, absolute rubbish. AUS: Out in Q3. MAL: Kimi 2 tenths faster. CHI: Grosjean didn't set time in Q3. BAH: Out in Q2, decided to sa...

Can we please take a mature view of the situation, instead of filling this thread with negativity? Good luck with that. negativity didn't start without any reason. We're having a disappointment after another. None of Kimi's podiums are a reason to celebrate, they always come in a form of sett...

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Lotus is officially fighting for points only now. It was only faster than the back markers. Don't tell me its only FP1, they can't be the only ones running race simulation. If they are the ONLY ones that means they're doing something wrong. Quali is expected to be wet, so there was no point doing "...

The Mercedes is horrible. The rest I don't really mind now.
Lotus and Williams would be my favourite.

I doubt it as McLaren go to at least 19 countries a year & are televised in many more - though they may have a super expensive contract. What I'm trying to say is F1 will still attract customers whereas- lets be honest - cricket isn't as big a sport as F1/football apart from in 5 or 6 countries & V...

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Hard to know what happened with the Lotus this weekend. It seemed like it was possibly the fastest car in early practice but it was pretty horrible today. My theory is that the track temperature was too low in the race, which is why Kimi was struggling so badly at the end of his first stint. Hope fo...

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Barcelona was the first qualifying session where Grosjean was actually quicker than Kimi and that was only by 0.05s in Q3. Kimi was then faster with high fuel in the race and they were pretty similar towards the end on low fuel. I don't think we should read too much into today, there's absolutely no...

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
If they are going to attempt a 1-stop strategy they need to make the call before the pit stop this time. Also what's your source for what the team said about set-ups (not that I don't believe you, I'd just be interested to see what they said). It did seem that Kimi was doing longer runs in P3, but m...

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Lotus clearly having massive trouble "switching on" these super softs, which is surprising given the track is 40+ degrees C. They've gone for a race setup IMO which has compromised their quail pace to much. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lotus mix up the strategy in Q3 and hope they can pass enough ...

Didn't look good for Kimi in Q1, using the super softs doesn't really matter but the apparent lack of pace does!

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
The Lotus looks once again to be mighty quick this weekend (at least in the hands of Grosjean). Kimi to put in a magical lap in the rain and stick it on pole? :D I love Kimi's helmet as well, sometimes simples, clean lines can look the best. Speaking of which, does anyone else think that in a year (...

All they are saying is that Kimi sets high standards for himself. I don't think they are having a swipe at him, and who cares if they are?
I'm sure he wouldn't give a fairy cakes.
Edit: Or maybe you are confusing, "Kimi was disappointed with himself" with "Kimi was disappointing".

Re: What are kerbs really there for?
I find kerbs absolutely fascinating for some reason and have actually put quite a bit of thought into this question. :D I don't agree that kerbs are just there to stop drivers from cutting corners. In some cases (especially on the apex of slow-medium corners) e.g. Monza turns one and two, the penult...

What was the track temperature like? It was forecast to be less warmer than Friday and saturday. The lotus seems to prefer warmer track temperatures. Two races in a row where Kimi arguably should have won but these are valuable points nevertheless. The Lotus looks to be mighty fast though when you consider the tire variability. Monaco will be a good test to see where they sit amongst the top teams.

Re: The Official Kimi Räikkonen thread
Did Kimi's tires really fall off the "cliff"? His pace for the last few laps doesn't suggest so, as does the fact that the team didn't bring him in for a new set. I think the (temporary) drop off in grip was just a consequence of going off track and picking up dirt/marbles/grass. That's my theory at...

Re: The Official Mark Webber Thread
I'm never quite sure where I stand on Webber as a driver - I like him and find his racing exciting to watch (my main prerequisite for supporting a driver!), but at the same think I don't think he's quite as good as the likes of Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel in terms of natural ability. However, his p...

Re: Mercedes suspects Red Bull using illegal engine trick
I was at the race in Melbourne and the Red Bull engine definitely sounded different to all the others, especially in the middle of the turn 11/12 chicane where they began to pick up the throttle. Probably completely unrelated but thought I would mention it, even my dad who is not an F1 fan commented...

All this still doesn't answer my question. I suspect the OP has the same one. Why not fill out the step now and make it smoother? Why have an abrupt step instead of smoothly rising up? This has nothing to do with underbody aero anymore right? Here is a diagram that explains it. Basically there is n...
