Re: Silly Season 2025
We're surely getting Bearman next year in a Haas. Question is if Antonelli will be on the grid & in which team.... Rumour seems to have it at Mercedes if they can't get Verstappen otherwise Williams. It was me who had put news about this that Mercedes have an indirect deal with Williams to give Ant...

Re: Silly Season 2025
For the 2025 seat next to Verstappen (assuming he does not depart) we have Perez and Tsunoda in contention, although I think Tsunoda only as a last resort, then Lawson (ideally to go to RB instead of Red Bull Racing, but still), and then Sainz and Alonso. Now Albon would be a better option than Tsu...

Re: Silly Season 2025
He isn't in contention, as there are several drivers ahead of him. If Verstappen were to depart, there are still several drivers ahead of him. Albon would only be of interest to Red Bull if there were no other more suitable candidates. I'm going off rumours where are all these drivers that Red Bull...

Re: Silly Season 2025
I'm hoping a knock on effect of Bearmans impressive stand in, is that teams are more open to taking a punt on new talent rather than sticking with safe , but frankly uninspiring old hands. I do understand, even 1 extra point gained from a driver having experience means they would take them. From a ...

Re: Silly Season 2025
No it's not clear at all if Albon was available then I think he would be in contention, Red Bull are interested in Albon but they would only consider buying out his contract out if Verstappen left the team, they don't need to because they have Verstappen like wise Mercedes don't need to because the...

Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread
You can just use both surely. It's a bit ridiculous not to penalise a driver everyone very clearly saw move just because the sensor said he didn't. Although I could definitely see an argument for not penalising the sort of thing Norris did as he gained no advantage and didn't do anything unsafe. so...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
What did Perez do apart of ignoring red lights causing an unsafe release and being massively slower than his teammate? I'm surprised you didn't notice he did pretty well. I can't say I was looking at his times the whole race through, but I can't agree with "massively slower". He didn't do as well a...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Bearman, a fresh face on an otherwise snoozefest. Why were these first two races held on a Saturday? Anyone know? Bearman is surely heading to Haas next year. This drive of his yesterday warrants for a full time F1 drive, not a silly reserve driver role where precious talent gets wasted. Bearman wa...

Re: So... who replaces Lewis at Mercedes?
Every day that goes by it seems max to Merc is becoming more likely. For Max to say that he won’t stay at rbr if Marko is let go is huge. Meanwhile Horner says no person is bigger than the team and it seems he believes he can continue to win without Max or Newey. It would be amazing for the sport t...

Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread
Just read that Perez wasn't let out of the pits too soon by the team, he actually ignored the red light that his team continued to show as alonso was passing. In my opinion, this should be a drive through at the minimum. Ignoring a red light literally a few feet directly infront of you and then for...

Re: Silly Season 2025
If Alonso leaves AM & goes to Mercedes, I wonder if Checo would take his place for 2025 at AM. Am will be switching to Honda in 2026 so Checo's knowledge of running with Honda engine & AM being his previous team where he knows most of the team could be beneficial.

A cool illustration showing the top 4 in their final qualy lap. Before the start of the final sector, Checo was behind all three (Verstappen, Leclerc & Alonso). The final sector being DRS assisted helped him surpass Alonso.

Re: Silly Season 2025
I think Horner is more crucial to the teams medium/long term success than Verstappen. Given that they can bank on winning this title and very likely the next with Perez in the car the short term takes car of itself. I'd definitely keep Horner. Yep I agree. I would change my view if it turned out Ne...

Seven front rows in a row for Leclerc. Incredible. On the opposite end of the spectrum this is Checo's first start in the top three since Spa last year (before the summer break). That was courtesy of an article at The-Race. He started second after qualifying 3rd in Spa because Max took an grid pena...

Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
A red flag in qualy also stops the time running. The red flag has no consequence on time running in practice sessions or pre season tests.
But something should be done to keep time as a buffer to warrant less of a penalty to drivers who can run or need more running.
