Re: Silly Season 2025
Brundle rightly believes that Alonso's antic on Russell which caused damage to his Mercedes car & put him at risk as well, has burnt a bridge he was trying to make to Mercedes for the 2nd seat.

Re: Silly Season 2025
Might as well file my own guess, since other people are doing it. This is my best attempt at an actual realistic prediction of what will happen. First off, I don't see these changing from their currently confirmed lineups: Ferrari Leclerc Hamilton McLaren Norris Piastri That's not a long list, howe...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
Perez's car was damaged when he overtook Alonso, which happened midway his middle stint. This means that his first stint was an accurate representation of pace, and I have to say, Sainz destroyed him. By the time Perez made his first pit stop on lap 14, he was already 15 seconds behind Sainz or so,...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
On a Positive note:
Ferrari were consistently fast & not suffering from tyre deg as the race went on. This is a good sign (hopefully) for things to come this season. All Ferrari need to do now is sort their pit strategies & wins won't be too far off & distant.

Alonso would be the last driver Red Bull would hire. He'll create a mutiny inside the team in no time.

Re: Silly Season 2025
There’s a rumour in New Zealand that Ricciardo has been given two races to turn his form around or he’ll be replaced by Lawson. Makes sense. Ricciardo in that seat is pointless if he's not beating Tsunoda. Better off putting Lawson in so he can hit the ground running in 2025. I sort of feel like th...

Re: Silly Season 2025
There’s a rumour in New Zealand that Ricciardo has been given two races to turn his form around or he’ll be replaced by Lawson. Could be true. Ricciardo is looking like a rookie in front of Tsunoda. Am sure Marko will be fearful in losing Lawson considering there are many empty seats for next year....

Re: Silly Season 2025
If anything 2025 is the season where it makes most sense to get a new driver in. Gives them a year to settle before being fully ready for the new regulations in 2026. True on that. Which is why on many podcasts it's believed Sainz could go to Sauber in '25 & get acquainted with the team & gel into ...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Woah........... As per Peter Windsor, he has heard from reliable sources that Perez has already signed a contract extension for next year. In a way it makes sense to retain the same lineup before regulations change. Hoping Perez is consistent through the year. 1772066600193020008 Translation: "And i...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Perez might have had damage, which apparently occurred when he was passing Alonso, but he wasn't exactly quick before that. Perez has always struggled with medium speed turns which is why he was slower than both Russell & Alonso in sectors 1 & 3. He banked on the speed of his car in sector 2. Plus,...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
Sainz proving he needs to be in a top car, Red Bull or Mercedes, he didn't deserve to lose his Ferrari seat, apparently Perez's floor was damaged which explains his poor performance so that doesn't exactly make things straight forward for saying Perez out. He doesn't do this well often enough to pr...

Sainz is in a slight predicament imo.... I wonder if Mercedes is worth going to considering their yearly struggles to understand their car. Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
Had Perez started P3 even, he would've finished P5 only. He was the slowest amongst the top 5. Even Russell was quicker.
Not entirely Perez's fault as both Red Bull cars were fearful of tyre deg & that happened. Had Perez won, he would've led the WDC table for the first time. Not happening again.

I knew Checo would struggle here. Medium speed corners are his Achilles heel. He's painfully slow compared to the top 4 in the 1st & 3rd sectors.

It's been a while since neither Red Bull car was on the podium. Red Bull didn't seem to be the fastest race car throughout the weekend. Ferrari will be glad for a opportunistic win which they deserved as well.

Sainz for victory! 8) What a comeback(from surgery) that would be. Sainz who seems more comfortable with the car is the one told to leave the team at the end of the year. Well, he always had periods where he looked to be on Leclerc's level - but never made them last so far. So, it is much too early...

I hope that the Ferraris & McLarens can at least give some sort of threat if not at the start then through race pace.
Behind Verstappen there are some formidable drivers who would love to go aggressive.
