Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread

I agree. We don't need to see 5 seasons of Sergio Perez in the second best seat on the grid. Why second best seat; the Redbull is the outright best seat at the moment. This is not the first time we are seeing this though; I remember the years of suffering through Barrichello/Kovalainen/Massa/Webber...

Re: Silly Season 2025

Ridiculous & delusional of the Aston Martin employees if you were to ask me: Yes and no, IMO. Obviously, it's ridiculous that if you're thinking of replacing one Aston Martin driver with Sainz, it would be Alonso. Replacing Stroll with Sainz (or just about anyone else, for that matter) would clearl...

Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread

Sainz's only deserved move would be Red Bull as that team is still the best. But Checo is doing good enough to keep that seat his. Mercedes doesn't seem like the team to go but could again create wonders in 2026 with new regulations. Aston Martin is a good choice as McLaren isn't an option. Below A...

Re: 2024 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread

The cooler conditions suited McLaren & Mercedes. Today the weather is the hottest it has been this weekend. It could take some performance away from these two teams. Ferrari supposedly have better race pace + this track has a very abrasive surface & this year Ferrari seem to have better tyre deg tha...

Re: 2024 Japanese Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Great lap from Perez, he looked great through the mid sector, pushing it Looked to me like he had to kill his tyres to even be close to max in s1 and s2 then he massively fell off s3. I suppose its good in that he is p2, but thats more a reflection of the relative car performance You could say that...

Why are all the cars sat in the garage in FP2? Rain is due to start in about 6mins....you would think they would want to get out there.
They would've but since it won't be raining on Sunday(earlier it was forecasted hat it will do so), it did n't make sense to run.

Neither should he if the other options are Sainz and Alonso.
If you're referring to Perez, the pressure to finish 2nd in WDC gets the add-on pressure of Sainz & Alonso's availability. It all depends what Red Bull want from a driver in the 2nd seat.

Brundle rightly believes that Alonso's antic on Russell which caused damage to his Mercedes car & put him at risk as well, has burnt a bridge he was trying to make to Mercedes for the 2nd seat.

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

Perez's car was damaged when he overtook Alonso, which happened midway his middle stint. This means that his first stint was an accurate representation of pace, and I have to say, Sainz destroyed him. By the time Perez made his first pit stop on lap 14, he was already 15 seconds behind Sainz or so,...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

On a Positive note:

Ferrari were consistently fast & not suffering from tyre deg as the race went on. This is a good sign (hopefully) for things to come this season. All Ferrari need to do now is sort their pit strategies & wins won't be too far off & distant.

There’s a rumour in New Zealand that Ricciardo has been given two races to turn his form around or he’ll be replaced by Lawson.
I can believe that, it then gives Lawson fair chance.
Would love to see this myself. Only issue I've got with that rumour is it's coming out of New Zealand.

There’s a rumour in New Zealand that Ricciardo has been given two races to turn his form around or he’ll be replaced by Lawson. Makes sense. Ricciardo in that seat is pointless if he's not beating Tsunoda. Better off putting Lawson in so he can hit the ground running in 2025. I sort of feel like th...

There’s a rumour in New Zealand that Ricciardo has been given two races to turn his form around or he’ll be replaced by Lawson. Could be true. Ricciardo is looking like a rookie in front of Tsunoda. Am sure Marko will be fearful in losing Lawson considering there are many empty seats for next year....

If anything 2025 is the season where it makes most sense to get a new driver in. Gives them a year to settle before being fully ready for the new regulations in 2026. True on that.
