Re: What's Going to Happen at Ferrari Next Year?

Kimi has never quite been the same after the back operation he had at the end of 2013.

Re: Ferrari/Mercedes has the faster car? (post barcelona &

From what I understand and based on my own analysis (in my head thinking about the races thus far), Mercedes have a slight edge on overall pace when compared to Ferrari. In qualifying trim I usually expect the Merc to be 2-3 tenths faster (the lead Merc) than the lead Ferrari. We saw the biggest gap...

Re: The Real Reason Red Bull are Behind

Looks back at all the preseason talk I seem to remember an interview Ted dd with Newey at the first test where he said that Red Bull had several different design philosophies for the new season but ultimately you had to pick the one you thought would perform the best and have faith you had made the ...

Re: McLaren, Honda, 2018

Is running last seasons engine - 2016 - a realistic option for the first few races in order to solve the new units problems? Realistically if the 2017 PU issues are not solved they will not finish races and Sauber have last years Ferrari PU in the back of their machine. Can the team split engines? O...

Re: 2017 Pre-Season Testing Thread

The Ferrari looked planted through the final turn and didn't appear to be suffering from oversteer as the power was applied. The Williams looked a little messy but not bad. I watched the Ferrari clips from turn 3 (Sky with Craig Slater) and can not work out the rumours of Ferrari having huge issues ...

Brawn - no quick F1 fix. What would you change?

So Ross Brawn has said there is no quick fix for F1. http://www.planetf1.com/news/brawn-warn ... ix-for-f1/

Do you agree? Or do you feel there are quick fixes?

Mine would be the introduction of a second tyre manufacturer in an attempt to close the gap between teams.

Re: When will McLaren get back on the podium?

Well McLaren did have the best engine. It was the best engine by far in 2014 and they didn't manage to win. Big Ron said at the time there was no way you could win without being a customer team, yet Eric states that they would of won races this year with the Merc engine. The decision by McLaren to s...

Re: Tyre Choices In Mexico / NEW Proposal

How about removing the colour side walls but keeping the current format?
Confusing for us the fan? Yes

Confusing for the teams? Not really they managed before.

Good for strategy? Probably as what tyre is he setting those purple sectors on? F&*ked if I know!!!

Re: Did Vettel cross the line today? (Radio Message to Charl

Contrary to popular belief if you walk up to a football or rugby referee and tell them to F-off then you will be sent off. Did Vettel cross the line in terms of language and professionalism? Yes. Did the stewards help the situation by taking so long to make a decision? No. I think most F1 fans regar...

Re: Mercedes Suspension

No but I have this nagging feeling that either all the rear end changes they made throughout the weekend somehow contributed towards it and/or that the reason that Seb was struggling with the rear all weekend was that there was something gradually getting worse until it broke. I think i remember him...

Re: Why is Ferrari so bad in strategy?

It's a very fine line between success and failure in F1 and with Ferrari you are constantly under a very powerful microscope. Last year in Malaysia their strategy for the win was absolutely perfect, they didn't pit under the safety car, they remained out made the tyres work and won the race. This ye...

Stop going to really great onboard footage and just when you're really getting into it and about to round the final corner, they break away to another car....hugely annoying!

Re: Hamiltons 2nd half of the season. The great engine debat

As many people have already mentioned, I'd be inclined to select Spa as the track for the engine penalties, for the following reasons: 1. Two great fast speed overtaking opportunities 2. Potential for a safety car is reasonably high (based on memory not fact) 3. Rains fairly often up there in the hi...

Safety car lack of pace

After rewatching the British GP, it was clear from the way Lewis was hounding the safety car that it was not able to go fast enough in order to get an F1 car up to anywhere near the right operating temperature. Is it feasible in the future to have the safety car lead for the first few laps, then mov...

Re: The direction of F1

1. I'd revert to the 2015 qualifying format but with a slight caveat. The top 8 qualifiers from the previous race are only allowed to use the hardest compound tyre during Q1. You may then get the slightly jumbled up grid without making it massively artificial. 2. I get annoyed when a car enters the ...

Re: Could Vettel have won the race if not for the engine fai

No, Vettel would of finished second just as Kimi did, once Seb was out of the race, Kimi was given the plan A strategy which usually goes to Vettel. If both cars ha made it to the finish it would be interesting to ask the question if Kimi would have been able to hold onto third with the less optimal...

Re: Alonso crash/missing Melbourne [MERGED]

Perez 2011 Monaco GP has a heavy collision with the armcoc barrier after the tunnel exit. Perez sits out the next race in Canada through illness. He's back in the car at the race after. It can happen but because it's Alonso it's big news, if it had been Max Chilton last year then all the so calles e...

Re: McHonda Oz Retirement Sweepstake

At the first sign of any PU issue McLaren or ANY of the other constructors will retire their cars. There are only 4 PUs per season per car without incurring a penalty. Mercedes and Ferrari seem to have the upper hand over Renault and Honda on the basis of pre season testing reliability.

Hi guys, Long time watcher of the forum, now finally posting! I'm a bit miffed as to why everyone constantly talks of McLaren as the second best team in F1. For sure (as the drivers like to say) this years car has a great flying lap pace as demonstrated by Lewis' qualifying record this year. What gr...
