Just saw this in the news - RBR have ordered Daniel Ricciardo to drop 2kg, so according to the stats in Peter's title thread that means he'll be down to 63kg, only 5 kg more than Seb. http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/motor-sport/daniel-ricciardo-ordered-to-slim-down-by-red-bull-to-meet-teams-2014-ra...

I wouldn't consider Webber to be a great driver, although I think he had a good career and achieved a lot of things that many F1 drivers (past and present) would consider to be great achievements. 1. He won Monaco twice, which is the race that everyone wants to win besides their home GP because of ...

Re: The relationship between F1 teammates
Basically, the equation is big ego + big money = big conflict. As Zoue has said, Senna and Prost is perhaps the best example of two elite drivers in the one team which caused one of the greatest rivalries in sport, but it doesn't end there. Mansell and Piquet were teammates at Williams in 1986-87 an...

Really hard to decide between Prost and Senna, but I voted for Senna only because as a rookie driver he beat his peers (some seriously exceptional peers) in equal machinery at the Merc 190E race at the new Nurburgring track in '84.

Speaking of 1984, there's an article on the Top Gear website about the Mercedes 190E race at the Nurburgring to celebrate it's return to the F1 calendar. If you don't know the story, the old Nurburgring circuit was taken off the calendar after Niki Lauda's horrific crash there in '76 (as shown in Ru...

Second, who will get third in the driver's championship? While Vettel is clearly first and Alonso is a clear second, third place is still up for grabs. Because of Kimi's absence, its now a race between Hamilton and Webber with only 6 points separating the two. This is the kind of result Mark and th...

@VDV23 - One of my degrees is in International Business and I did an essay which focused on the rise of F1 from a European sport to a global sport. Is it just me or is anyone else a bit worried about this new Star Wars movie that's due out in a couple of years? Bernie turned a multi-million dollar sport into a multi-billion dollar sport and because of that almost everyone involved in Formula One are making a lot more money than if he had not transformed the sport. And although it is easy to focus on the negative aspects of this man, he has a lot of positi...

I have only watched F1 since 2010 and there are things I don't like about F1 and think they are unfair. with all the recent dramas in driver changes and such, why not just put a new rule in place and limit teams from signing drivers during season? This is BS - Perez doesn't deserve to be the scapegoat and I hope he's already on the phone to Telmex and Monisha Kaltenborn to get his old job back. No offense to the OP, but there is nothing revolutionary here about Seb. The best drivers in F1 have always been friends, that's what it takes to be champion. No big surprise here, this has been on the cards since Paddy Lowe came over from McLaren. I read somewhere that he's going to Honda to head up their re-entry into F1, which could be bad news for Martin Whitmarsh if McLaren don't see some results in the next two seasons.

Marketing and PR is also a huge expenditure to the top teams. For example, the Red Bull energy centre (their three story motorhome) cost Mr. Mateschitz €12 million to build and who knows how much to take it around the world on top of that.

He believes it is up to individuals to decide who the greats of the sport are. "Many people...
