Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Verstappen would absolutely enhance his legacy by going to a different team and proving he can do it outside of Red Bull. There is almost no similarities between the 2019 Red Bull and 2023 Red Bull, these are two totally different cars build under different regulations, with very different strength...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Well it would have to be Russell then wasn't Antonelli supposed to be the Verstappen that got away or maybe not if they can get Verstappen himself. I don't see why it has to be Russell. We don't know how good Antonelli is yet. Well that comes from Wolff, Antonelli is the Verstappen they missed out ...

"Newey leaving Red Bull" where is this announced ? other than click bait I put the source in my OP... In denial not in denial. fully aware of the massive power struggles at the top of Red Bull. They both are supposed to be the future of Mercedes, it's not really a good look for Russell. Obviously not ideal for either driver but nobody can complain if they're let go for an upgrade. Re: Silly Season 2025
So like I said about being thrown under the bus. That's pretty pejorative language. Mercedes wouldn't be treating either of their drivers unfairly by signing someone better. So I wouldn't describe it as that. They both are supposed to be the future of Mercedes, it's not really a good look for Russe...

They are also interested in Ocon. That would be a good move for Ocon and hopefull leave room at Alpine for Martins if he picks his form up off the floor. I think Doohan is first in line. As of now definitely. I believe Martins to be more talented though so would rather they skipped over Doohan for ...

Re: Silly Season 2025
There could be a logistics problem, how long do Mercedes wait on Verstappen making a decision, he certainly won't be driving for Mercedes next year, in the meantime what do they do with their drivers, pairing them up immediately means one might need replacing soon after. With Antonelli fine to plac...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Is there a driver in F1 history that we never found out completely. I can not think of one. You just have to be patient enough and it all works out. There was a time when Kimi was the fastest man in F1 and Schumachers replacement. That ended when he switched teams. There was a time when Vettel was ...

Obviously drivers like Hulkenberg getting careers that span 16+ years is terrible news for rookie's but Hulk is driving well at the moment so out of all the drivers that should really be getting moved on I resent him staying probably the least.

Newey Leaving Red Bull
I thought this deserved it's own thread.

It appears Newey is going.
Will he pop up at Ferrari, Aston Martin, somewhere else or will he retire?

Re: New points system
I have to disagree. In the current system, the second placed driver can actually stay pretty close to the leader by scoring a bunch of second places and the leader DNFing once in a while. 10 x 2nd = 180 and 7 x 1st = 175. Before 10 x 2nd = 60 and 7 x 1st = 63. For the fastest driver/car, a DNF is m...

Re: 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread
I respect your right to the opinion, but I honestly find it pretty bizarre. Even in the most extreme cases, there are going to be parts of a track where a driver isn't allowed to drive (pit lane, access roads, etc). Many tracks have alternate layouts, and obviously those will also not be allowed. A...

Re: New points system
The results you require of him are impossible for him to achieve as in race wins, it's just hypothetical fantasy, in today's system it's possible for Verstappen to win 18 races but Perez be champion with just 3 wins such is the devaluation of race win points. Well Norris won't be champion. It's tru...

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread
Bottas seems in good form at the moment. I expect his future career depends on what Sainz does more than anything else.
If he leaves Audi will he have an opportunity at Haas or Williams? He would be an upgrade on Magnussen or Sargeant.

Re: New points system
That's not how it works, you look to give Norris race wins for which he is not capable of, clearly today he can keep much closer to Verstappen without the need to win races. This depends how you define closeness. Norris is much closer to Verstappen in terms of % of points scored. He is only a littl...

Yes, there will be less points to go around to lower teams and I can see that not everyone wants to (or rather looking the various posts to no one else seems to want). You mean because of reliability? Still you would have to be top 5 or top 6 to score points every year before 2003. How else would merely finishing get you points? Re: New points system
The reason I dislike the current system is the same reason I dislike the MotoGP system, just giving out points for basically finishing the race. I don’t think it should work that way, you should get points because you’re one of the best. Perhaps a little bit similar to the Champions League in the P...

Well, I am happy to consider the count back, which is what Mikeg I think suggested or certainly something along those lines.
