I dont understand. What did he do wrong at Imola? The race circumstances were out of his hands. Re: Is Vettel at Aston Martin starting to look like Mansell at Mclaren in 95?

He didn’t do anything wrong on Sunday that I saw. With others spinning off, Vettel kept it on the road despite having a reputation for that. Did he get any points along with his stop/go penalty? After 5 in one weekend in a 23 race season he really needs a clean season now. It’s a shame Vettel got a...

Re: The Official George Russell Thread

It’s been good to see Lewis encouraging the younger drivers to learn from their mistakes and move on this weekend, but I wonder if things might sour in the future depending on how the season / silly season unfolds. Russell’s mistake has allowed Hamilton to salvage 19 points this weekend, in a seaso...

Re: The Official George Russell Thread

You recognise the mistake, you apologise and then move on, Russell hardly touched Bottas' helmet so that's a bit of a storm in a teacup. Storm in a teacup is exactly right. I can't think of a top driver who hasn't at some point reacted badly to an incident of some kind. Sometimes we all screw up. A...

Ricciardo has been worse than all his teammates in the wet. He is definitely behind Norris at this point but the margin is not as severe as shown in the race in Imola.

Is Vettel at Aston Martin starting to look like Mansell at Mclaren in 95?

Obviously it's too early to truly make a judgement, but I'd argue Vettel is nearly as far off Stroll as Mansell was to Hakkinen and is widely ridiculed for his efforts. If Vettel is still being outqualified by a notoriously poor qualifier, Stroll, by mid season will he do a Mansell and walk away bef...

That was some off-weekend for Bottas. I don't expect him to challenge Hamilton every race, but the gulf here was enormous. That whole left kink should be widened. For a long time cars are battling close to each other full speed in that area, being a prominent place for overtaking. Common sense to enlarge it. You can easily fit 3 cars wide and these are F1 drivers. It's not that narrow. Yes, but its about being bent, th...

The backmarker made Lewis go onto the wet part of the track to pass going into the corner Which they are perfectly entitled to do. Seeing it again it's 100% Russell's fault. He overreacted to Bottas' slight defensive move and lost it on the grass. It is his fault. Overtaking two cars under the SC should be a bigger penalty. 5 seconds per car round a track that's very hard to overtake on is pretty much worth it.

For such an indiscretion a stop/go would be more appropriate.

Great session. Really enjoyed it. Impressed by Perez and Hamilton of course. We finally have a situation where someone in a great car who does a bad job doesn't qualify in the top 3 which is good.

Red Bull have a split strategy with Perez starting on softs so Merc and Hamilton have a job on.
