Re: Silly Season 2025
Ignoring the fact that Max doesn't need a rear gunner, I just can't understand why Sainz would go to Audi. These are his prime years, unless Audi has a dominant PU then I don't see him winning races or contending for anything for years with that team. Maybe I'm completely off base and they will sur...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Driving is one part of greatness but a very important part. I don’t see anything Lewis does better than Max at actually driving the car. I don’t think he’s as quick, or as relentless, or as consistent. Sprint qualy china, the moment rain fell down, Max fell to 4th. He is not the 2nd coming of jesus...

Re: New points system
F1 are discussing changing the points system for next season. The Race understands that the top 12 finishers would receive points. The top seven would receive them as they do now (25-18-15-12-10-8-6) and then eight downwards would receive 5-4-3-2-1. Here's what writers at The Race think: https://ww...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Sainz would be incredibly stupid to take the Audi drive over an absolute certain WDC shot in a Red Bull in 2025. If Audi don't get Sainz they'll likely pair 38 year old Hulkenberg with 36 year old Bottas. It's not like the Audi opportunity isn't going to come back around. Whilst I agree with the fi...

Re: The big 6 then the rest?
TBF I made this thread last July and people were saying I should have included Sainz then. I also have not seen anyone make the argument that Hamilton does not now belong in this pool of drivers. Just that perhaps he is slipped a little bit lower in it since last summer.

Enjoy your holiday! All fairly straightforward this week. Went with Bottas and Ricciardo as they were ahead when they retired through no fault of their own. All the other picks are pretty self explanatory.

Re: Silly Season 2025
Rumour has it that an offer to Sainz has already been made by Red Bull but the money side of it is a bit miserly and Sainz wants more. If Sainz turns down Red Bull because of money then we can't be to sad if he ends up with a midfield future at Audi, at least he will have plenty of money. We can be...

Re: The big 6 then the rest?
The hardest question to figure out right now is who the second best driver on the grid is. There really is no clear answer. I think it's probably Norris. Or Verstappen. ;) As of now I think Verstappen is clearly out front. Maybe, maybe not. A super dominant RB-team and a midfield teammate make that...

Some spicy comments from Ricciardo - “I slowly started to calm down and then I was told what Lance thinks of the incident,” he stated. “Apparently, I'm an idiot and it was my fault, so that made my blood boil because it's clear as day and it's also behind a safety car. “The only thing you've got to ...

Ok, after viewing the replay, I think that will be a racing incident. Alonso was the main cause of the cars bunching up together. This rule is perhaps just badly worded, but going from it, Sainz shouldn't have been allowed to go any further: article 39.6 of the sporting regulations: “Any driver whose car stops on the track during the qualifying session or the sprint qualifying will not be permitted to take any further part in...

My point being is that Sainz will not have had the time to progress further if the clock had kept going. I did try to make that point. You did but I don't think it's either accurate or relevant. There was still nearly 7 minutes on the clock. Even with the minute or so it took him to get going there...

This doesn't really pass the sniff test. We all saw why Hamilton went out. Where the contact was made with alonso most certainly wasn't equally stupid from both. It wasn't stupid from either. It's exactly what we want to see, good hard racing. What’s going on here then? It was as good as even last season (with Gasly on a slight edge on points) and most expected Gasly to kick on and beat Ocon this season. But it’s currently 5-0 to Ocon in qualifying (5-1 if you include sprints). Ocon has been the better driver in races too. I think Ocon h...
