Verstappen is the only guy with the potential to beat (or even get close to) Lewis' record.
15 years at least ahead of him, and probably already the most sought after driver on the grid. If there is a dominant car he will find his way into it IMO

Re: Paddy Lowe leaves Mercedes?- motorsport.com(Italy)
Losing Lowe and gaining Allison isn't really a loss as such. He is being replaced by somebody as good, if not better. Considering Allison designed the '16 Ferrari, I say losing Lowe will be a big loss! Hardly fair. Lowe designed the 2013 McLaren which was a far bigger disaster. Ferrari have issues ...

Merc will get their man, but Williams are doing the right thing in playing hardball for now - make them pay as much as possible. Nasr is the best option for Williams if Bottas goes IMO. It will come down to whether they think Wehrlein is ready or not.
If the answer is yes, they put him in.
If it's no, they park him somewhere else for a year and sign a solid placeholder (most likely Bottas IMO)

Merc could buy out Perez or Bottas (Solid Number 2 drivers next to Lewis) with discounted engines Not sure about Bottas, but I think Perez is a great racer and he could give Lewis a run for his money. I've gone for Bottas. Rock Solid No 2. One of Toto's proteges. Easily bought out of his contract with cheaper engines for Williams.
Think Wehrlein will be considered too raw. Alonso too fiery (as much as i'd like to see it) Button too British.

Just to add: I really doubt it'll be Vettel. He might secretly fancy that seat but if Ferrari were to agree to release him from his contract, who do they then replace him with? Brave decision from Nico and one he's clearly thought deeply about. He's right. He's reached the pinnacle, and know he's unlikely to win it again. He's a new father and wants to commit to being a family man and just doesn't "need" F1 anymore. As for the drive, i think the people throwing Button/Alon...
