Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread

One thing the Russell/Alonso incident does show is how awfully untraceable these cars are. Russell's car became basically undriveable because he got close behind Alonso into a fast corner. This can't be what we want? Like that was the pure dynamic I believe Russell had to brake which helped to dest...

Re: The 100 Greatest of All Time (Update)

Re Senna v Prost, and behaviour on track... There's footage of Prost weaving all over the place down the Hockenheim straight to keep Alan Jones behind him in about 1981. Pretty sure you can find it on youtube. And that was years before Senna made it to F1. People seem to have very selective memories...

Re: 2023 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

We know steward decisions arent consistent. Leclerc had no penalty doing to lewis was lewis did to piastri. Lewis got 10 seconds for silverstone but 5 for this on piastri There is nuance tho, imo piastri could have used more road to the right. Similar, last lap of 2021 along the straight, max edged...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Hungary 2023

I think I read somewhere that Piastri suffered flood damage during the race, which might explain some of his pace differential to Norris. I don’t know how/when this happened…maybe in duel with Perez?…but he still wasn’t as comfortable pace-wise after that first stint. Clearly he’s playing a number 2...

I'm sure Piastri said they both have the upgrades.
Piastri had the upgrade that Norris had in Austria.

Norris had an additional upgrade, a new front wing (Aussie drivers tend not to get these at Silverstone  )

Crappy top speed because they are slow out of the corners IMO. At least they’ve gotten rid of Key now. The most overrated technical guy in F1, I think. But it doesn’t really explain why 2 years running they have been the least prepared team on the grid. Last year it was brakes, and now it’s both unr...

Not too fussed about the Gulf sponsorship colours TBH.

This is a nice livery though, as it was last year. Only thing I'd do is make the dark blue slightly darker and the light blue slightly lighter...give it a little more contrast. Colours of Oxford and Cambridge would be spot on

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread

Why does everyone forget that Ricciardo was actually really good at Renault? I agree. He went to McLaren and suddenly became terrible. He might be washed up, but I'd suggest there is more to his poor form. However, he still got a win when he got the opportunity. Quite a typical DR trait. A few days...

If he went to Williams, when was the last time they had a driver as good as Ricciardo driving for them? (I'm assuming Ricciardo hasn't lost anything in the last two years, it's just that Norris is elite or he hasn't gelled with the McLaren cars). Russell was obviously great but I don't think he's q...
