Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
You don't have to be British to show a British bias. I am biased to the US although I only have visited the country a few times, it is not by nationality alone. The real difference of course is that many here applaud Hamilton for his clean driving, whilst Hamilton is just being a whole lot more cle...

Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread
Personally feel that Sainz is under rated. Sure he isn't an elite driver, but he is a guy who could get a WDC in the right circumstances. His race awareness, race management, and defence is amongst the best on the grid. He just lacks a tenth or two and consistency that the very best have. I wouldnt...

So how has the stewarding become political then in your view? Which decisions of the Stewards cannot be considered impartial but political in nature? There must be heaps of examples for you to take such a line without referring to a specific driver. Well, we recently learnt that the FIA president h...

Were we not recently frustrated by Norris not getting a jump start penalty? A decision you defended. Though I don't think this was political. I'll throw in a Hamilton one to quell your temper - he should have had a grid drop in Abu Dhabi for a 3rd reprimand. If he hadn't gotten excluded from Qualify...

Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread
Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps Hamilton is desperately searching for that perfect set up, because he cannot drive around problems in a way that some other drivers are able to? It all comes across as a lot of excuses, again. How do you conclude Hamilton cannot drive around problems having ...

No, I think his results would be worse. Russell is now outperforming Hamilton and that cannot be a good sign. If the car was far better perhaps Hamilton wouldn't be wasting Friday's on extreme set ups even then in the 2 races finished Hamilton was just 3 seconds and then 7 seconds behind Russell, t...

The 4 elite talents to break through in my years of watching F1. Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton and Verstappen. 3 of them showed up in F1 and you realised they were very special within a few races of their debut. Alonso took a little longer, but it may have been equipment. Once he had a decent car he...

Re: The Official Carlos Sainz Jr. Thread
He finished third, but based on the first three races this season he is looking nowhere near capable of repeating the feat even if Mercedes had a similar car to last year compared to the rest of the field. No because he is now in the 4th/5th fastest car so that will give you that impression, strang...

OK, so do you think Hamilton is as good as he's ever been? I'm not interested in what you think other people think. What do you think? I said because of his age probably not, beyond that I don't really have a reference point. OK so you agree he's probably declined then. So why are you arguing again...

I concure with most on here who have said Vettel after Baku 2017 And Verstappen after Saudi 2021. I also would like to add in gasly for after suzuka 2022. His actions during the safety car period were such that he put other lives at risk by doing 230+ kph during a neutralised race period in which r...

Sainz wouldn't be a good fit at Red Bull imo, he prefers a car with a stable rear and Max a car with as much front end as possible.

Brake test or whatever, its poor from a pro driver in that scenario to panic at the helm and go off..he wasnt that close In other news, alonso gets twice the penalty that max got for jeddah 2021, a far more obvious amd dangerous move. Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
I think calling it a brake test is a little unfair, even if it technically was one. The spirit of what Alonso was doing, wasn't to brake test Russell in the way we understand the term brake test. I've no reason to disbelieve Alonso, his recount seems like what he was trying to do, and what happened...

I think they need to just come out and say if you mess about braking unnecessarily before a DRS detection zone it's a brake check and you'll be punished - ofcourse they would never follow up on it but it'd stop some of these stupid games.

Watching the race. I'm curious to know what you saw? Magnussen was quick enough to pass Tsunoda (all be it illegally) before he started his go slow. How did Magnussen cheat in his post-penalty duel with Tsunoda? What rules did he broke?
