Re: 2024 Miami Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread
Translation: It is starting to be said in the paddock that Miami will be Logan Sargeant's last race. Williams has reportedly already requested a waiver from the FIA to allow Kimi Antonelli to drive for them from Imola. 1785955950819471683 I'd love for this, at least 1 interesting thing will he ha...

Re: Newey Leaving Red Bull
Well Autosport/Motorsport are reporting Newey has now handed in his resignation and we could get an announcement as soon as this weekend. They're also suggesting he will have to stay in his role (not on gardening leave) until the start of 2025 at the earliest, which seems like it would be a bit awk...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
If we look at social media - pretty standard way to understand someone's reach Hamilton's got 40m followers on instagram vs. Max's 12m and it's a similar story on twitter. I don't care about this stuff at all but marketing teams do, obviously. Verstappen's reknown outside of F1 is tiny i would say h...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
There is not a single reason to contract a very expensive driver at the end of his career, no matter how good that driver once was or perhaps still is, unless that driver is better than both the drivers whom you currently employ. Everybody and their uncle knows this, but still there has to be an ex...

Please show me an excuse. This is getting tiring, it's the some old often repeated nonsense. A money excuse, Hamilton might be over aggressive. “Speaking after FP2, Hamilton reflected on his tricky session, explaining: “Yeah, a typical day, just lacking the confidence in the rear of the car. Re: Newey Leaving Red Bull
This is a play by Horner and Newey to get rid of Marco and Verstappen clan. Newey leaves, Vestappens get worried about car development, run to another team. Marco loses his power without Verstappens, retires. Newey come back after a year of sabbatical (sailing around the world/whatever). Horner and...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
If Verstappen went to Mercedes would he face such accusations of "disloyalty", "only in it for the money doesn't care about winning", "fair weather driver"? My guess would be no which I find telling.

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Everyone who wants Max to “test” himself will get it soon enough, as the rumours are that he is joining Mercedes. I do wonder what the excuses will be when he inevitably turns Russell into another Albon. I'm sorry but who doesn't want to see Max go up against some other big names at a new team? Sur...

Re: Newey Leaving Red Bull
If he stays in F1 i think Ferrari, but could also see him focussing on the boat/sailing racing (whatever that's called) which I think he has a lot of interest in
Also: thank God for that, RB never deserved him. His personality that we see at least is at such odds with the other big wigs there

Re: New points system
Well, I never liked 10-6-4-3-2-1, but rather the one preceding it with 9 points on offer for a win. Yes, less drivers would have scored points, I am not contesting that. But we are now in the situation where teams do no need to strive to get to the top, but happily paddle around the lower end of th...

Huge moment, great catch
Hamilton reeling in Piastri now too. If he can finish 8th that's a great result, with a bit of SC luck.

Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix Race Thread
Ok, after viewing the replay, I think that will be a racing incident. Alonso was the main cause of the cars bunching up together. Stroll could have backed off more, but no way woulf he have expected this to happen, so I don't think it is an obvious penalty. Magnussen howerver, it certainly should b...

Re: 2024 Chinese Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread
Good to see Norris finally able to deliver on a wet quali, he usually is dead fast but somehow fails to get a lap on due to track limits or crashing in Spa.
Hamilton showing class is permanent, he has always been one of the GOATs in the wet, and good to see he hasn't lost it

Crazy lap from Norris i guess
But how the hell can you delete a lap time so nobody understands it needs beating, and then put it back at the end...

Reactionary take due to poor form from Leclercs season opening. Before 2024 Ferraris woes have been Ferrari and I say this as a fan. They've lost more points for Leclerc than Leclerc has lost for Leclerc. Is it reactionary... Leclerc has generally been a better driver than Sainz but only managed to...
