Re: The Official PAUL DI RESTA Thread

Scots as people are just about the funniest nationality in the world, for every DC who has a great sense of humor there's a PDR, he probably is a good guy, just we never really saw it. His funny side anyway. The thing is it's a bit rich who he gets slagged from, most of the drivers have the charisma...

Jarno Trulli, amazing carting career and never had better than say the third best car on the grid in any given season in his 14 year career.

DC/Mclaren: Monaco 2001, jeez that one hurt the heart, he was on the best form of his career and had been brilliant in qualifying only for the Mclaren anti stall to set in and set up the 43 laps behind Bernoldi :-((

Re: Drivers comment about "Alonso vs Vettel"

If they were down the field fighting for 8th race after race in a Sauber then I would favour Alonso, otherwise I would go for Vettel every time, for me he's simply just faster. Possibly at his best by a couple of tenths.

Next year will be the pivotal year for hulk, if he fails to deliver and impress he can forget about a ride in one of the big teams have you been watching F1? He has delivered big time, every year, and he has impressed every year he drove in F1 (and also in lower categories). The man has nothing lef...

It's still been a better car over the year than a Force India.

Anyone know how much money Sutil brings to the table? Looks like PDR is definitely out of a drive in that case

Re: Di Resta to Indycar??

Every chance he'll finish 10th in the WDC this year, has won the DTM championship, F3 championship with Vettel as his teamate. May not be exciting but I've no doubt he's better than a good chunk of drivers in F1 If Sutil stays it's a complete joke, he's been in F1 for years and is clearly going nowh...

An IRL great, was more than good enough for F1, just a shame he didn't get his break. I love DC but he had more talent for sure and could have one of the best Scottish drivers ever=one of the better drivers in F1. At least he will retire with his health and loved by many.

Webber was always a great qualifier from his Jaguar days in 2003 but he has been Vettels team mate for 5 seasons now and frankly been butchered year after year in quali so i'm sure it's more than just setup between them.

Re: Di-Resta without a driver

Great drive yesterday, he's definitely better than Sutil, would be pointless keeping AS on, he's a decent midfield driver but imo there's no question who is faster. Putting much stock in 2011 is pointless, it was Di Resta's rookie year and had a lot of bad fortune in the first half of the year, this...

Re: Vettel's new team mate for 2014?

Most likely it'll be Vergne. Di Resta, yeah.... possible, appeals to the British market, but is being out-performed by Sutil, however this is concealed by what is awful string of bad luck for Sutil so far this year. How do you work that one out? At no point this season has Sutil been genuinely quic...

Grosjean spends the whole weekend crashing in to the barriers goes gets through, Di Resta spends the whole weekend whupping his teamate and get's knocked out in Q1. Incredible error from Force India.

VDG out on slicks, seems like the way to go.

Re: I just dont get it

Yes, at Force India. The Hulk, I believe, is a shoe-in at Ferrari. His quali today has really helped his chances, out qualifying Massa and PDR I doubt Hulkenburg beating Di Resta by half a tenth (due to PDR hitting traffic in S2) will sway Ferrari's decision much. I reckon it will already be a done...

Re: McLaren didn't consider Di Resta because he's British?

Not much else Paul can do tbh, he is driving the 8th best car on the grid so those mentioning him having to get on the podium or qualify on the front row are out of their mind. You could have Schumacher in his prime and he couldn't do it, Perez drives a car which is great on it's tyres so he shows i...

lol - based on what exactly? Sorry but can you give me a breakdown of the credentials Di Resta has that makes you believe he could beat Button? I'd have to say this year DiResta performance have been were youd expect the Force India to finish, nothing special. Some times up a few places, some times down a few. Massa fluking an 8th place after qualifying 13th (8 places below his teamate) is more impressive than the four guys who ran at the front all race? the top 4 ran over a second faster than pretty much anyone else in the final stint.

He was 1.5 seconds clear of Vettel, hardly " by far" the best driver of the race considering he also has the best car.

It's Hulkenberg who's completely overrated, his only good result came in a race where he'd been outqualified by his teamate as usual and had half of the top car's punted out of the race with his teamate having no KERS. Awesome drive from Di Resta today, i always knew he was a great qualifier but hi...

Just like this year though the Sauber was significantly better on it's tyres so looked better in the race. Agreed, the Suzuka track should suit them, particularily in the final part of the lap with Mercedes power. I also noticed after the SC came in and on tyres exactly the same age Di Resta was a second lap quicker than Rosberg every lap, that's 2 of the last 3 races the FI's have been genuinely quicker...

Agreed don't know why he was waving his hand about after the Hulkenberg collision when if anything i thought it was his fault. I think Williams will go pretty well, it's hard to look past Mclaren and Redbull though. Sauber and Williams for example have an excellent car aero wise but lack top end speed towards the end of the lap so could spring a surprise, out of interest how many teams are still developing their car?
