Re: Official Sebastian Vettel thread
What was your favourite Vettel performance? https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/sebastian-vettels-top-f1-wins-ranked-on-his-retirement4982104/4982104/ Not so much a single performance, but that 9-race winning streak in 2013 will always stick in the memory for me. Re: How Long Does Formula 1 As A Sport Have Left???
This from Jman interested me? Firstly while CO2 tends to sit and accumulate in the atmosphere over long periods, water vapour does not. Just as when it evaporates from the ground or ocean, it rises, condenses into clouds and rains back down. So the H2O being emitted is not going to be around for ve...

Hydrogen is promising if anyone can figure out how to produce and store it in large quantities in a way that doesn't have an enormous carbon footprint upfront. But as a fuel, the energy density of hydrogen is three times that of gasoline (120 MJ/kg as opposed to 46), so it does avoid the absolute l...

Re: 2022 French Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
The most bland, characterless venue that F1 has ever visited in my opinion (and there's some competition there) and it's not worthy of the French Grand Prix, which should be one of the headline events on the calendar given their motorsport heritage. It's a shame, because I think the track itself act...

Re: How Long Does Formula 1 As A Sport Have Left???
Isn't the hydrogen route a possibility for F1? This gets rid of the batteries but still uses 'green' electric motors. Not sure about the size of the hydrogen tank needed, but I think that for road cars they're not much larger than petrol, and the limited range problem of batteries is solved too. An...

Re: How Long Does Formula 1 As A Sport Have Left???
Tech for batteries and motors won't improve that much. The only way F1 becomes viable if electric is if another technology is perfected. To do a race at F1 speeds would need 2.5 to 3 tonnes of batteries. At the moment, they have developed massively over the past 20 years and will continue to do so....

I'm all in favour of zero tolerance, and I thought the way it was managed in Austria was the right approach. In no other sport I can think of is the line marking the field of play open to interpretation. An even better solution in my mind would be for there to be no need to police track limits, beca...

It's going to take a monumental shunt involving the sausage kerbs to get the FIA to act. One accident that I regularly think back to is Barrichello's practice shunt at Imola '94. Mick Schumacher's most convincing performance to date by far, so he gets my vote. I was starting to write him off after a disappointing start to the season, but if he can keep this level of performance up he'll easily justify retaining his seat for next year.

Good job Russell. Can we at least agree he had the better pace than his teammate this weekend ? We haven't had any semblance of a fair fight since Australia so we can't. Given the amount of pain he appeared to be in after the race I vote for Hamilton. He's done well to make up for a disappointing grid position and being pitted into traffic early on. I like a good anachronism - after all I am going to be celebrating the 70 year reign of a hereditary monarch next week - but the Monaco GP is a bit far even for me, and I was done with it the year Ricciardo managed to win with a hobbled car because nobody could pass. I voted for Spain. Brazil was good due to the added pressure of the title challenge but his car that weekend was much superior to anyone else's, his own team mate included, with it's fresh tuned-up engine. Seeing him blast past the field on the straight made it look like he was in another formula. I...

The Mercedes has looked good in slow corners so I wouldn't count him out at Monaco, though his record there isn't great. Overall though I think I agree with the premise of this thread, that given the current state of things I think it is more likely than not that Hamilton has taken his last victory.

Albon the clear standout for me. This isn't something that massively bothers me at the moment. It's a bit of gamesmanship. Having said that though, I do think some rule clarification is needed here. I still think it's engine related, most likely related to the change in fuel spec. I find it too much of a coincidence that all of the Mercedes powered teams are struggling.
