Re: Sprint Qualifying alternative

Here's my idea. Friday: FP1 & FP 2 (1 hr each) Saturday: FP3 (1 hr) + Quali Sunday: Race Remarkable idea, has this been tried before? How did it work out? In all seriousness I agree though, the existing format is fine. We don't need any alternatives to sprint qualifying outside of what we have alre...

Re: How will Max and Lewis race each other for the rest of the season?

Badly.

I'm expecting contact the next time they encounter each other on track. Max needs to be wary, Hamilton was quite willing to race in this manner with Rosberg and he was remarkably good at it.

Re: Sprint Qualifying - first impressions?

What I can say in favour of it is that it means there is meaningful F1 action on each day of the race weekend so I think it's a positive thing for the fans at the track. From past experience I think Friday can be a little dull once you've got over the novelty of seeing the cars in action. For the TV...

Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Having thought about this a little more I'm more inclined to call it a racing incident. Much has been made of Hamilton being slightly wide through the corner, but I think this only happened because Verstappen had squeezed him right up to the inside wall, heavily compromising his trajectory through t...

Re: Who will win the Championships?

My initial vote was for Hamilton and Mercedes, but I have to admit that despite today's setback Verstappen has to be favourite now. He looks to have the beating of Hamilton on all types of circuit, and without the collision he would have won today's race. I still think Mercedes for the constructors'...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Nice to see the British fans cheering while Max is in the barriers, possibly seriously hurt given the speed of the crash. Doesnt surprise me one bit though, I've been to two races and heard the cheering for Rosberg & Vettel's issues, shameful. Shameful when the British do it, but when it happens in...

Interesting take from Karun Chandhok on Sky, saying the reason Hamilton struggled to make the apex was because his entry was so heavily compromised by Verstappen pushing him so close to the inside wall. Re: Forum verdict on the Hamilton/Verstappen collision

Hamilton's fault, he was left enough space but understeered into Verstappen. I think the penalty was fair. Although the consequences were huge the actual error itself was relatively small and does not warrant the drastic penalty that some have been calling for. In that regard I don't see his win as ...

This is a racing incident Max took too many liberties upto that point and Hamilton wasn't having it! Whatever happens, they won't ditch the "sprint race", but make it mandadory before long. Had forgotten about the sprint race thing. I suppose I'll give it a chance though I am not at all keen on the idea. I don't think there's any deliberate sandbagging going on, or ever has been. Yes the lap times in practice are often unrepresentative, but that's more because the teams are using those sessions to collect data that will be useful for them over the weekend, not necessarily to see how fast they can go.

Interesting, a definite improvement in both areas which were terrible pieces of track design. I'm hopeful that we'll see some decent side by side action into the new turn 11, that chicane and the fiddly off-camber turn following it killed off any racing that the preceding straight might have set up.
