I think they've done the right thing. Ricciardo is better driver right now and Norris is a better long term prospect.

Re: I really miss screaming V10s

They sounded great on TV. In person, with a grid full of them going round at once, it gave me a headache to be honest.

Unpopular opinion I know, but I think the current engines provide a better spectator experience at the track. There's much more to motor racing than being deafened.

Ricciardo for me. He is showing certain other teams the value of hiring a top driver. That car should not battling with Red Bull for a podium place.

Re: Standing Re-starts

No problem with standing starts after a red flag, I am much more concerned about the inappropriate use of the Safety Car and arguably even the red flags to generate "excitement". People are saying it made the race more exciting, I would actually argue the opposite and say that it ruined it. Mugello ...

Re: 2020 Tuscan GP Race thread

Question relating to the safety car lights going out quite late - what difference does this make? In this instance, wouldn't Bottas have waited as long as possible to restart the race in order to avoid giving the slipstream for a longer time? My thought was that with earlier warning he could have d...

Re: 2020 Tuscan GP Race thread

The problem here is the use of a tyre barrier. Modern circuits haven't used them for years for this reason. Loads of circuits use then! Fair enough, my impression was that they had been replaced by TecPro barriers, particularly in places where crashes are most likely to happen. I had thought that t...

Re: 2020 Tuscan GP Race thread

I think it was Latifi that went first, then Giovinazzi and Sainz reacted to him. Whoever it was that put their foot down first needs a hefty penalty, one of the most idiotic pieces of driving I've seen. Worthy of a race ban if you ask me.

Re: F2 & F3

It beats having local yellows with a tractor on the road. Last time F1 tried that, Bianchi died. To be fair, they tried to sort it under VSC, and the Safety Car was only deployed once they realised that they needed to drive a crane onto the track to remove the stricken car. It does highli...

Re: Would you swap Perez for Vettel?

Shameful, classless decision. Perez stuck with that team through some tough times and has done a superb job for them year after year. And how do they repay him? Given that he had a contract for next year, he's effectively been fired so they can hire a driver who's grossly underperformed for the past...

Re: Reverse Grid Sprint Races back on the table?

I'm not opposed to the principle of reverse grids. If you want to win a so-called drivers world championship then perhaps you should be able to prove that you can race through the midfield as well as just leading away from pole position. However, my main concern here is nicely summed up by this: A r...

Interested in what the two people voting too lenient think the penalty should be - DQ? I was one who voted "too lenient'. My position is determined from the safety viewpoint. I do not advocate DQ, but I endorse a harsher (even draconian) on-track penalty, such as a five minute stop-and go. Breaking...

I was gutted for Sainz. He deserved the win far more than Gasly, and to be honest I think this will be the best chance at a win he'll ever get in his career. Ferrari's problems seem so deep-rooted that I can't see them being in contention for wins for a few years at least despite the rules reset. Pe...

I'm not yet convinced by Shwartzman. His race performances have been superb but his poor qualifying is leaving himself with far too much to do on race day. The penalties were fair. Safety violations like that need to be dealt with harshly. I don't quite get all the criticism for Hamilton not noticing the lights. You can't see it at all on the onboard footage when it's played at full speed, the X is only apparent with the benefit of a freeze frame so I'...

Daruvala is paying for his own F2 seat. Tsunoda is paid for by Honda. F2 is extremely expensive and Red Bull have always been extremely reluctant to pay for it. I don't get why though? Why is it a problem to run wide at Copse, but yesterday there were 3 or 4 corners where every single lap every car was over the white line and it's apparently 'fine'. Peter Windsor, ( I think it's him) needs to shut up about drivers trying to go around the outside at the end of the Kemmel Straight. The issue people raise about F1 being the technological pinnacle of motor sport is tricky. To me, it simply isn't that straight forward. I can personally go out and spend money on a car that has ABS brakes, F1 cars don't have this. I can get a car with traction control. F1 cars don't have this. I c...

Lots of revisionism going on here I feel. I don't recall anyone saying at the time that Mercedes was going to be the place to be for 2014. I think banning radio communication during the race could be a big positive step, I hate all this micromanaging of the drivers through the race.
