Re: If Senna had lived..

For me Senna was the greatest. At 34 he surely would have added a couple more world titles. Schumacher had clearly shown, by the time Senna died that, he was a great in the making. I agree that Senna was the greatest. I thought Senna made a mockery of Schumacher in 1993. When Schumacher had full fa...

2003 - did Schumacher win the title in the third best car?

There are a few cases of a driver winning the world title in a car that is obviously the second best - most obviously Prost in 1986. Trying to find someone who won one in a car that was obviously third best or worse is a bit more difficult. You are reduced, at best, to pointing to a season like 1982...

Re: Ricciardo poised for impossible hat-trick at Monza

All a load of rubbish that this has never happened before.

For starters:

Schumacher (1995 - European, Pacific and Japanese Grand Prix). Not too many people would argue against the Williams being the best car that year.

Re: Bringing the sport to Disrepute

Can you show us why either fact isn't a reason for disqualification? Do you perhaps have the rulebooks for 1989? Even taking into account that TV-commentators don't always get it right either, I clearly remember James Hunt pointing out that Senna got outside assistance in getting his car started; w...

Re: Drivers who won their last GP on wet conditions

I like to know who won the most races while wet? Ayrton Senna was the best I ever saw in the rain. When it rained, even a small amount, he usually won the race. Here are 10 of his victories on a wet track... if you include the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix (which I haven't) then that makes it 11 out of...

Re: Who's the worst ever drivers

Sorry folks, only one answer is acceptable: Jean-Denis Delatraz. Nigel Roebuck once wrote that Delatraz made Lavaggi look like Nuvolari. Among his other gifts to F1, Delatraz once went round a corner at Estoril so slowly that he stalled and had to be push started by the marshalls! He was lapped afte...

Re: Was Schumacher a dirty driver?

I see it like this, he started racing with Prost, senna, mansell and piquet, all of which or renowned for bashing and bumping. If schumi drive like they do today back then he would get critisized for being to soft. Keep in mind just an opinion I will totally respect yours. Schumacher indeed started r...

Kimi and the escape road

Did anyone notice that due to Kimi's unfortunate journey down that escape road he ended up being lapped and thus did not complete every lap of the racing season - not that it will bother him that much I suppose. Incidentally Vettel should buy Kimi a drink for going off track on the first lap so as t...

Re: BBC's F1's greatest drivers: Juan Manuel Fangio #2

That still gives Schumi a advantage for 6 races of the season, yet Senna still managed to beat him overall. I get the Miki point, but I still feel the cars were at least on par. So it is not a myth really as Schumi had more of an advantage. It is quite a boast for Senna's legacy that he managed to ...

Re: BBC's F1's greatest drivers: Juan Manuel Fangio #2

Prost is actually one of the main reasons I rank Senna nuumber 1. I know Schumi had Miki for a few years, but Ayrton had Prost to deal with in cars that were equal to his, Mansell in a faster car and Schumacher in a faster car in 1993. He did very well against all 3. If I did not rate Prost, I woul...

Re: Average Drivers in Great Cars

Ok guys just because another driver has problems or doesn't finish the race it doesn't lessen the achievements of others To finish first first you must finish Damon had Monaco 1996 in the bag until his engine gave up but it doesn't mean Panis didn't deserve the win So Damon Hill being 1 second per ...

Re: Schumacher to Red Bull next year? (Seriously!)

After winning 2 consective WDC's with Benetton his motivation to move to Ferrari was needing a new challenge. Staying at Benetton would be too easy. Sounded noble. I simply cannot understand where this notion keeps coming from. Supposing that winning 2 titles with Benetton (it's a supposition, beca...

Re: Schumacher/Senna incident

Apart from everything else, I find it too funny Schumacher had some come togethers in the past with A.Senna (France 92, Kyalami 93, Canada 93,...), and now had 2 of them with B.Senna (Brazil 11 and Spain 12). And I don't know why I think this is funny, but I just do :] Funniest thing about the whol...

Re: Barrichello reveals Ferrari 'threat' of 2002

If Todt had issued such a threat the consequences could have been disastrous for him. Firstly, there were cameras on Todt throughout the incident and had he said such a thing it would have been recorded and relayed to millions. Even had the cameras not picked it up such radio communication would ha...

Re: Barrichello reveals Ferrari 'threat' of 2002

More nonsense from Rubens. His account does not stand up to the most basic of analysis. The implication that Todt in some way threatened his career/something more serious outside of his contract implies that Todt was a reckless manager with no sense of perspective. If Todt had issued such a threat t...

Re: Belestre

Personally I like Balestre when I watched the movie Senna, he had this Dictator like personality "My decision is the best decision" I think he had style. I think he was less corrupt than what the movie shows him to be and just because Prost is French and talked a lot to Ballestre doesn't mean that ...

What are you talking about, he didn't have more points than Senna, i refuse for a second to entertain the idea that Prost was robbed of his WDCs because of the scoring system and that he should have beat Senna. I refuse to do that for a second because had the points system been different the whole ...

Re: Why do Prost supporters love Prost?

Now Prost's main concern was that Senna was receiving better engines from Honda, so we would expect such a policy to show up most on the power circuits. During the second half of 1989 the circuits in question would have been Hockenheim and Monza. Here is a brief summary of the gaps between Senna an...

Re: Why do Prost supporters love Prost?

The funny thing is that, while these people like to suggest that Prost would have won under today's points system, they often ignore the fact that with today's reliability, Senna would have absolutely trounced Prost (especially in 89'). I don't buy into that way of thinking. I believe with today's ...

Indisputably Alain Prost in 1986. The last time a driver won a title in demonstrably inferior car and he did so against two drivers (Mansell and Piquet) who hold their own place in the racing pantheon. He produced some of his greatest performances - the Imola fuel run, dominance in Monaco, fighting ...

Ah, I see the myth that Schumacher hasn't got all that much talent and that his success came purely from hard work is still doing the rounds. Schumacher entered the sport never having driven an F1 car and never having driven at Spa yet outqualified by almost a full second an experienced teammate who...
