Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

If you can't tell the difference between saying that one driver will beat the another and saying that he will smash/dominate/crush the other you need to work on your sense of nuance. One implies simply doing better, the other implies that there is no contest. your right there is no contest between ...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

Thanks for coming back to me on that earlier post, Peter77, but I was more interested in the ones where you made claims about what I'd said: You keep twisting and changing what you were saying. You initially said Vettel mastered the EBD and no other driver in the 2013 redbull would have likely beat...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

this is the perfect example of non-logic... seriously... it is very well known that the EBD, to work perfectly, needed very well implemented software solutions, which RBR and Renault did work out... they made use of the regulations to basically reproduce off-throttle blowing by not only switching o...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

Lets look at 2014 so far. Vettel and Ricciardo head to head. There is no better comparison than head to head in the same car. You've put a lot of effort into your post and I commend you for it, but I'm afraid you're way off the mark for the simple reason that no-one is disputing that Ricciardo has ...

Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

I think last race encapsulates Vettel's season. He was one of the slowest drivers on the grid in the first half but after the stops gave a much more respectable performance, especially considering he was in traffic pretty much the entire race. He made some pretty good overtaking moves and looked sh...

Unlike many drivers in the sport, the kid has been in racing pretty much all his life. If he doesn't understand the business i'd be quite surprised. And to ignore the fact that there are obvious advantages (which may outweigh disadvantages) which is why other drivers have done it, is to ignore a ve...

Ricciardo is a step above Vettel this season that is for sure. However if you arre assesing how good a driver is it would surely be foolish to not look at there whole career. . Re: Is Vettel's rep gone for good?

There were some who were touting Vettel as the G.O.A.T., so from that perspective his reputation will have taken a battering this year. But he has enough records and titles to ensure his place in the Hall of Fame so he will still be remembered. Whether he's ever considered a Top Ten or Twenty again...

Imagine this.... Hamilton beats rosberg on track in brazil fair and square. In the final race Hamilton is 5 seconds ahead of rosberg and lapping quicker. Rosberg is clearly slower and just does not have the pace to match Lewis the entire race. Both are pushing to the limit and almost lapped the enti...

As for drivers struggling, the fact that Kimi is struggling, too, means that it's not inconceivable that drivers don't perform the same year on year. Button also has had issues in the past, most noticeably 2012. There are drivers who appear to be more immune to this, I agree, but it doesn't rule ou...

Re: Who will end their career with the most wins? ALO HAM VE

Seems unlikely unfortunately that it will be Alonso. He just hasn't had the hardware, the fact he's still so high on this list speaks to his talent. Vettel currently leads, but I feel his grasp on the lead is slipping. He hasn't had a win in 11 months and is at a skill disadvantage to both his main...

Most pundits are in agreement that to get the maximum out of the EBD type cars required a different, counter-intuitive style to the norm. Vettel next year is off to ferrari. He wont be winning a race for a long long time. The only missing ingredient in total Red Bull dominance since 2009 to 2013 was engine advantage Mercedes currently has, otherwise it would pretty much the same thing. It can't be just down to the car, as both had it. So therefore the driver must have played a part. I agree that a case could be made for Alonso being the best driver overall, but it doesn't negate the fact that IMO Vettel got more out of the extra downforce that RBR had than anybody else could have...
