Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

This is exactly the kind of analysis I am referring to: comparing an ideal Schumacher season with Rosberg's real season ... The projections on Schumacher's points assume that all tyre strategies would have played out without any unexpected drop- offs. However, those are a main characteristic of 201...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

That's a score of 8-8 and I am very generous in giving Monaco and Hungary to Rosberg. A fairly minor part of the overall analysis, but why did you give Monaco to Rosberg? Because he was ahead before Schumacher’s car failed (this is ignoring Schumacher’s penalty that was unfair in my opinion). At th...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Yes, that is a myth, really. It started out with some projections than Schumacher with an ideal season could have matched Rosberg (without assuming an ideal season for him as well, of course). And over the years, the mantra was developed that he was better than Rosberg, which is as false as the cla...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

It's strange how we keep getting told that in his final year he was better than Rosberg. Why is it strange? It's a fairly commonly held opinion, although certainly not universal. There's even some data that suggests it might be true (point projections adjusted for reliability, mostly) although I ha...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?

However and notwithstanding, if Perez keeps performing like in Bahrain (which I don't believe he will), this will not lead to this conclusion. It was obvious in the race that Perez drove one of the best cars on the grid. The inevitable conclusion is that he messed up qualifying - and that's really ...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?

Probably worth noting that qualifying is probably Perez's weakest area and Bottas' strongest. And yet the Perez-Button-Hamilton-Bottas cross comparison suggests that Bottas has, at most, a tenth on Perez over one lap. Not the most accurate method obviously, but it does suggest that Perez is not as ...

WHEN, you seem confident that's going to be the case. Well it's already happened once, in Bahrain. When Perez tried to qualify on mediums and half of the grid out qualified him, that's your evidence? Verstappen, Perez, Hamilton, and Bottas all qualified on mediums in Q2. Perez was the only one who ...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?

I'm legit confused about how people could be confused about Verstappen having a very solid argument for being the best qualifier on the grid. InB4 he claims more pole positions this season than Hamilton has managed in any of his F1 seasons (granted -- he'll have 23 races to do it). Get used to Vers...

I've already seen that the post below yours refutes what you said, I would also say that you have little proof for the McLaren being quicker.
Kovalainen’s qualifying pace, and Hamilton’s race pace.

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread

According to Helmut Marko:

1. The diff problem that Max was complaining about was suffered by both cars and slowed them down by 3 tenths/lap

2. Honda was not running at full power in the race, the problem was software related so it can be fixed with adjustments

I highly doubt that the 9 tenths gap between Vettel and Bourdais had much to do with fuel loads if anything at all, that’s just desperate reaching. Technically Brawn isn’t wrong though, years is plural which means more than one year. Russell made his debut 2 years ago, so he is technically correct.

I think all current drivers would have learned from the Hamilton/Spa incident. Max pace and tyre offset was pretty strong here. I think most would have expected him to get the job done again. Verstappen’s sportsmanship is what needs to be discussed. He let Hamilton through between turns 10 and 11 because he said it would be “unfair” to let him through later in the lap and then DRS pass him down the main straight. That is Hakkinen level sportsmanship. Guys like Alonso or Hamilton, althoug...
