Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Verstappen won and Hamilton lost the race on Saturday. Verstappen won the race when the safety car was deployed right after Norris passed the pit exit and immediately picked him up. Until that, it wasn't happening. Also true but I think that there’s a good chance he wins the race even if Norris mai...

Win number 60 and it was a big one. Won it on Saturday when he qualified P2 with a car that probably should have been P5 (Mercedes and McLaren were both quicker over one lap). Well, the cars were very even yesterday, and today the Red Bull was marginally better on balance. Then there was the SC gif...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
What exactly does this have to do with Max's legacy and Hamilton's ruining thereof? Obviously the debate has been muddied over time but my general impression is that Verstappen wins races at a greater rate than Hamilton when he finds himself in “similar circumstances”. This is ironic because the op...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
No, looking to only critique details that are consequential to the argument itself. KV's point stands whether it was 8/13 races or 12/13 so why would anyone quibble about whether it's 12/13 or 10/13 etc. You don't see it ridiculous KV saying that Ferrari should have won the first 12 out of 13 races...

Re: What is the worst race ever?
I don’t actually consider races like Belgium 2021 or USA 2005 to be the worst races ever, because at least they are memorable events. The fact that we still talk about them 19 years later says a lot. What in my opinion, are the worst races ever, are races where after the sport genuinely feels dead a...

Which wouldn't have happened to the faster Ferrari driver especially if he had qualified on pole plus you're only talking about 10 laps on a unsuitable race tyre for all teams. This is digging up an old argument, but one thing about Baku 2019 that hadn’t even crossed my mind until today was this: E...

Or long run data? Because if it's just single laps, no one is really questioning the idea that Lecler...

Fangio beat Moss comfortably when teammates at Mercedes. Then Moss beat Clark without factory support in 1961. Granted Clark was a rookie, but Fangio was 45 years old when he beat Moss too. Norris is too good to be anything but a clear top driver. He matched Sainz’s pace over one lap at the age of 19/20 which is no easy task. He then basically ended Ricciardo’s career, when Danny Ric still had a top reputation. Even if Ric does look finished now, it was still impressive what he did to...

Re: The big 6 then the rest?
I find it hard to place Alonso a whole tier above Hamilton. Hamilton has always been quicker, and as he's 3.5 years younger, he's lost less speed because of ageing. It's too little to form a proper pattern yet, but indications this season are that both have lost a fair chunk of speed, and Alonso ma...

McLaren was a bit faster in qualifying and faster on hard tyres.
Red Bull was faster on mediums.
Ultimately Imola is not a great circuit for overtaking and Norris lost the race on Saturday.

I haven’t been this uncertain after a Max pole since 2021, my impression is that McLaren was a touch quicker yesterday and they are very kind on the tyres. McLaren was also very strong through the final two corners which will make defending the lead much harder.

This is why you should always wait until the end of the weekend before you make any conclusions, even qualifying is not enough. He could have a poor race tomorrow and undo his great pole today. So Sainz is entitled to mistakes but not Verstappen, Sainz had clear air from lap 3 but you want to run it from lap 4 because it suits your argument better. Verstappen’s laps from 4-8 are consistent while Sainz has a very slow lap 4 and then is quicker than Verstappen from laps 5 to 8, this isn’t p...
