McLaren was a bit faster in qualifying and faster on hard tyres.

Red Bull was faster on mediums.

Ultimately Imola is not a great circuit for overtaking and Norris lost the race on Saturday.

I haven’t been this uncertain after a Max pole since 2021, my impression is that McLaren was a touch quicker yesterday and they are very kind on the tyres. McLaren was also very strong through the final two corners which will make defending the lead much harder.
