Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)
Hands up if since reading / contributing to this thread, you've changed your mind over who's the best out of MS and LH? Or is it a very interesting thread with lots of good input but let's admit it, we all have our opinion and nothing's going to change it! ;) This isn't a criticism, just what I bel...

JV stirring the pot with his take on this - as with a broken clock, he's also right sometimes: “Michael and Ayrton have won with cars they didn’t have to win, in complicated situations, without the support of the team. “Lewis, on the other hand, has always dominated with the best means and with int...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
This never seems to happen in F1. Just because driver A beat driver B a certain number of years ago and now driver B is beating driver C, it doesn't necessarily mean you can simply rank the drivers. Take your nuance elsewhere! It isn't welcome here! In all seriousness, there is definite m...

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
Nobody ever seems to allow for a drivers current form. In pretty much all other sports, competitors have good and bad years and these are taken into account. This never seems to happen in F1. I think I started here around 2003 (may have been a little later than that) and was SuffolkBen. I then had technical issues and created a new account some years later.

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
I'm legit confused about how people could be confused about Verstappen having a very solid argument for being the best qualifier on the grid. InB4 he claims more pole positions this season than Hamilton has managed in any of his F1 seasons (granted -- he'll have 23 races to do it). Get used to Vers...

Couldn't see a 2021 edition, but please merge if I missed it. Just watched the Moto 3 race and it was won by Pedro Acosta, 16 years old and he started from the pit lane! Simply phenomenal! I am astonished. Only his second ever race in Moto 3. In his debut race he finished second, just has I thought...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Gravel traps or those horrible kerbs will definitely prevent driver from exceeding track limits. Does anyone know how much difference those Hamilton 29laps made ? It's impossible to really know. I have read that he immediately went quicker when he stopped doing it, for what that's worth. Personally...

Re: 2022 18" tyres tested.
My understanding is that the current smaller wheels were to limit the size of brake components... to limit braking performance. With much larger rims, has there been any rule change to specify brake rotor size, etc.? I can't imagine 7G braking performance with these 18" wheels. I believe there's al...

Re: 2022 18" tyres tested.
Might be a stupid question but what will the performance difference be? I haven't looked into it yet... I don't know, but I guess the much smaller sidewall means they will be a lot stiffer. I assume the cars will maybe need more suspension travel to cope with hitting kerbs as an awful lot of that i...

Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Interesting insights from Tsunoda. Analysed Alonso's driving style during the race, then used his techniques after he passed him into some corners, and found the performance was better for some of those corners. Sponge confirmed. His dad's fave driver was/is Alonso, and likewise he is the driver wh...

hehe verstappen would rather have had a 5 second penalty and thought he could make that up had he stayed ahead. Which is incredibly unsporting of him. Re: 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
That's the difference between LH and MV. Lewis made one mistake, going wide, and then gathered it all up and race perfectly for the remainder of the race, despite the pressure. Max's driving went all over the place in the closing laps.

Not sure who I want to win this. Max is not a driver I warm to, but I also believe Mercedes will sort their car out and it may become clearly quicker than the RB so Maz getting some early points may help the championship.
