Re: Hamilton/Verstappen British GP 2021 Collision Discussion

I do wonder that if instead of handing a 10-second penalty, or any other time penalty for that matter, for these types of incidents when one driver is completely taken out, they could instead simply say that wherever the driver finishes, they get a finishing place drop of X number of places. So, Le...

Although Hungary is a dreadful circuit for passing, if I were Max, I'd take the penalty for a new engine as I'd still expect to get a massive haul of points, even if it's for finishing third or fourth. Far better than a dnf.

A gentle reminder for Horner (check from 0:09 seconds):
The only thing this reminds Horner of is the fact that Max didn't cut across as Stroll did. It's so different!

Is there any way Red Bull could claim some money back or get a budget increase for the season if they can prove that Lewis should have received a larger penalty? For me, the whole logic of 'racing' battery powered cars is backwards. Anybody watching California traffic knows that electric car owners compete to see how little energy they can use to get where they want to go, not how fast they can get there... "Hypermiling" is the way to get the EV owning publ...

I think what we are really finding out is that nobody, including the competitors, has any idea what some of the core rules of the sport are. F1 is, in fact, a very expensive version of Calvinball . But at least everybody understands the rules in Calvinball because if someone tells you a rule, it's ...

As a nice aside to all the agro from Sunday's race and 'that' incident, here's a very short clip of Mick driving his dad's Jordan at Silverstone. I think it was being filmed for TV so hopefully, we'll all see more of this at some point soon. https://twitter.com/tmoody1904/status/1417532796621500421?...

It's also worth remembering that cars can provide significantly different quali pace than they do race pace so we get cars out of order for the race. With sprint quali, the cars basically shuffle into race pace and that's what we, therefore, start with on Sunday. This isn't a recipe for racing.

Bin. OK, we get a bit of an extra race, but F1 isn't about sprints for me, and if I'm honest, and possibly if a lot of you are honest too, you're not really remembering too much about it because there was a full race on Sunday.

Someone has just mentioned self-preservation and it's a good point. The cars are incredibly safe and I wouldn't ever want them to stop getting safer and safer, but I could imagine Lewis not even looking at that pass about 20 or 30 years ago.

I'm sorry, but Chandok wondering if any penalty would have been given if it was a midfield incident and saying that 5 seconds would have been enough of a penalty, is just wrong. I truly believe a penalty would have been given regardless. Look at Russell in the Sprint.
