Re: Engine power curves - analysis
seems a lot of people are looking at that graph and seeing a huge Mercedes advantage, but that's just not the case, they have approximately 2% more power at the top of the rev range, of course thats nice to have, every n'th counts, but its no golden egg anymore. If the rest of the car wasn't at leas...

how much time ?
I noticed today the mclarens were pulling 308 kmh in the speed trap, the merc engined cars were at 329-334 kmh. 20 + kmh less top speed twice a lap for a few seconds, must amount to some serious lap time lost. So how much time are the Mclarens losing purely because of horsepower?, if they had a merc...

Nicos invite to Vettel
So Nico has invited Vettel to their friday briefing, to show he meant what he said about hoping Ferrari could close the gap to put on a better show..........................ok so lets say Vettel goes, what does it benefit Vettel or Ferrari ?

Re: The Official McLaren Thread!
Despite how grim the situation appears at Mclaren, im kind of feeling they might just turn it around sooner rather than later. Jensons last lap was maybe a hint that there is much more to come from just being able to run at full power, if indeed that's what they did.?!?!? How did his 1.33.3 compare ...

i thought it was a pretty darn good start tbh. only thing i thought was a bit rubbish was the pit stops, i think it would be much better if the 2nd car had a 2nd driver, so one car would drive in and release the next one. Ok they looked a bit slow some times but you don't need massive speed and powe...

im enjoying this year more than the last few, i guess it depends who you support...everyone who supports mercedes is probably very happy, just like red bull supporters for the last few years. i dunno who's fault it was ....but from 6 laps earlier when felipe was closing in on them rapidly i knew it would end only one way. Not sure why, but i'm kind of expecting red bull to be closer in Barcelona, i think it takes away Mercedes advantage of long straights and high top speeds. I thought F1 floors were top secret, like you the last thing any team would want is to let your competitors see your cars floor as it was a sensitive aero design....then i see the car that maldonado flipped and wondered what all the fuss was about, there's nothing to see, its just flat with the rubb...

was a memorable race, i too thought lewis would have to settle for 2nd after the safety car. To pull 24 seconds after the safety car was incredible, that cant be all down to the engine, they must have "the" complete package in the car. Im just gald nico and lewis are close enough in talent to be rac...

Firstly i did look to see if this was discussed elsewhere, im sure it is but i couldn't find it. could it not be that the new 1.6 engines actually are much more fuel efficient than the old v8's?, so even if they are starting with less fuel, they don't actually need as much fuel to run flat out , so they might still have enough fuel to run at race pace for every lap.? Also wont the ERS provide 2...

Don't even really need qually imo for exciting racing.....line the cars up on the grid in the reverse order that they finished the last race, which might be something like marussia's and caterhams at the front, red bulls and mercs at the back. Re: Question about rev limiters and top speed
Drag and aero settings? I see! It was a stupid question then - for some reason I was assuming hitting the rev limiter meant you were at top speed, but not so? if they hit the rev limiter in top gear then they are at max speed, but the max speed can be changed by using longer gears, i.e, a top gear ...

thing is how will we know if mclaren do turn the car around and make it potentially a race winner, neither perez or button can truely exploit the car to its limits imo. lewis would have been dragging the car around by the scruff of its neck and scoring points, but the current drivers are not that go...

why is the monaco gp so special ? I can think of a few reasons.... Its not actually a race, might as well be 24 trains on one set of tracks. what you need is 2 or 3 huge vacuum cleaners on wheels, that just drive a lap side by side and hey presto standing water gone. no point trying to just blow away standing water it will just roll back on the track, suck it up and dump it elsewhere. would be very easy to do.....goodness knows why they ...
