Don't forget, gear ratios are set for multiple races. This can have a big effect on driveability in slippery conditions.

Re: Would a spec series F1 be any worse?

A lot of this problem is about the way we view the sport. We want it to be an individual competition despite the fact that motor racing in general, and formula one in particular, are team sports. It may be the epitome of a team sport. Run one car teams, get rid of the drivers championship, view it di...

Despite being on different strategies it seems that he had at least the same pace as Vettel(considering also the tyre differences) and also in qualifying ...i really hate Alonso, my least favorite driver, but this is showing again how good he is compared with Raikkonen/Vettel/Massa. Very odd driver movements. You have two top drivers who are admittedly in underperforming teams, leaving to go to teams who are underperforming even more. One can perhaps understand Alonso's move, in that Ferrari are doing their best to return to the shambles they were pre Todt/Schumacher/Brawn. Th...

When Ayrton Senna joined Prost at Mclaren in 1988, Prost was by then a 2 time world champion. When it became apparent that Senna could compete with prost the conclusion was (correctly) that Senna was great. And now that driver pairing is considered one of the greatest of all time. Two or three years ago (I cannot remember how long now) there was a scene at the end of the Italian Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel had just won, nando was on the podium with him. They were smiling and talking back and forth. Seb said something to Nando, Nando lifted his arm and gestured to the sea of...

Let's be honest. Riccardo just kicked Vettel out of team. There is no way Vettel would like to go if those 2 wins were his, also generaly if he was the dominating figure in the team in my opinion he would stay. He is moving to save some credit about his 4 titles, cus it faded a lot in 2014. Exactly...

Some absolute nonsense in this thread. I'm sure drivers have an influence on the car, particularly in terms of setup. It's an interesting question. Alonso has been consistently better than his team mates (world champions or not) for quite a while now. Probably because they put Vettel on the prime tire thinking others (like Alonso) would pit again. They didn't.

Vettel, like Raikonnen, drives with his right foot. He gets on the brakes early and on the gas even earlier. In the past the cars had more rear downforce and less torque. Now the formula has changed and everything is backwards. It's gone back to favoring late brakers and gentle throttle guys. Not on...

I just want to clarify a few things. This has nothing to due with average fuel consumption. It's how much gas a car uses at full throttle. The FIA is saying that Dan's using too much gas when he steps on it, Red Bull is saying that he isn't. But more to the point this is what seems to be going on in...

There are 2 fundamental questions to answer. Should one always comply with a regulatory body? And if not is this one of those times when one should not comply? If all the teams are unhappy then maybe red Bull is just taking taking one for the team.
