I'm a big fan of his, and I know he very much splits opinion, but there is no doubt that he is a very talented driver and would make the races more exciting if he was in the mix.

It is depressing for Alonso and Vandoorne, and a real shame.

As you say, they might sort it out, but either way they're massively on the back foot, and as usual Merc are leading the way. There's nothing really to suggest at this stage that anything will be different from last year.

If you're a lower team running in 14th/15th, it may be deemed of no benefit to keep going so as to save the engine. If Lewis gets another DNF, or if he outdrives Nico for the last 3 races but still misses out on the WDC, then I can't help but think that most won't feel Nico deserves it, myself included.

It's just a shame that the season has been decided completely so far by reliability.
