Re: Vettel's penalty - fair?

It was fair, Maldonado did the same thing twice ( vs Hamilton Spa 2011 and vs Perez Monaco 2012) and got a 5 and then 10 place grid penalty for it. Punishments need to be consistent. Vettel does have previous indiscretions and moments of red mist. (No pun intended) and this is another one of those ...

Re: 2017 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread

But the fact is Vettel came out two seconds ahead of Raikkonen. Two seconds. That's all. For all the great laps he did he pulled two seconds over Kimi. Vettel would have likely lost that time had he not got lucky and Ericsson pitted when he did. It's also likely that Kimi lost more than two seconds ...

This.

It was his best chance at winning since Spain last year, and he looked as annoyed then as he did now after not being able to get past Verstappen for the win.

Re: 2017 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread

Kimi looks very unhappy Kimi's reaction suggests team orders after all? The Ferrari guy on the podium (forget his name) pretty much ignored Kimi. He embraced Vettel and congratulated Ricciardo very warmly, but ignored Kimi completely until Vettel shook Kimi's hand in front of him. After that, he ne...

Surely the fact it was so close between the Ferrari's despite Kimi having traffic after his stop proves it's not team orders? Had Kimi not had traffic there's a very good chance he is still ahead of Vettel after the stops. For all the team can do, they can't choose whether Kimi loses 1 second a lap ...

It does to me. Call it a pre-race or even pre-season understanding, but that is how it looks to me.
But surely if it was an 'understanding' then he'd not be so upset about it now as he knew it was coming?

Not the worst of all time, but what about Eddie Irvine to Jaguar in 2000? His stock was high when leaving Ferrari, 4 race wins and taking Hakkinen to the last race in a fight for the 1999 WDC. Stewart GP had looked really good the year before in 1999 (one of the reasons Barrichello was chosen to suc...

There must now be consequences for him at the first race of next season. Mercedes needs to send a very strong message. You m...

Yeah Alonso destroying Massa for 4 years is all because Ferrari favoured him. No, Alonso is repeatedly voted the best driver in F1. I personally just think Webber had a purple patch in 2010. That mixed with Vettel having car failures (Webber's only 2 retirements were crashes in Valencia and Korea) and Alonso/Hamilton/Button also sharing the big points meant Webber's consistent points finishes (every race he finished he was in th...

Same bracket as the likes or Coulthard, Barrichello, Montoya etc. for me.
