Re: Silly Season 2023
Do we really think McLaren would 20 mil? Most likely Ricciardo will have to settle for less than 10 mil. He'll take that and walk into the sunset.. That 20 mil is already a sunk cost. McLaren pays it if he drives for them or not . So the only extra cost for McLaren is the wages of Piastri and if an...

My wife and I double-barrelled our surnames when we got married a few years ago. What surprises me is how surprised other people are. I don't understand why Alpine didn't make a fuss about trying to get Piastri into the Haas seat. Did Ricciardo some good in the HRT seat back in the day.
Anyway, Paul di Resta is also a McLaren reserve, according to Racer.

McLaren shares reserve drivers with Mercedes, so their reserves are Vandoorne and de Vries.
Not sure who'd get the nod if Ricciardo had to sit out the first GP though.
Pros and cons to each.

That's how I saw it a wee while ago but Saward made a good point about his Toyota deal. It runs until after next years Lemans and he can't miss a race or he won't get the WEC title should his car win it. Apparently Honda (Indy) aren't keen while he's contracted to Toyota. It's sounding more like he...

Does Frijns really count on this list? He got offered a place in Red Bull's driver program didn't he? That would've come with a Toro Rosso seat, and likely 2-3 years in F1. But... he turned it down. Normally, lack of funds is outside of a driver's direct control, but in this instance Frijns had the ...

How successful are they, though, really? They had a brief moment of competitiveness in 2007/8, but otherwise they've been a fairly consistent back-half-of-the-grid team. I think their glory days are pretty long ago, personally. If this gives them a chance to be reasonably competitive again, it can ...

Charles Leclerc is the current GP3 champion-in-waiting, and a Ferrari junior.
Haas has said they won't hire him for next year though, haven't they?
*edit - of course, that could just be to leverage more money from Ferrari, assuming the Prancing Horse wants him in F1 next season.
