I hate to say it but the incubus does raise some good points. Looking at Gilles in terms of his ability as an all-round racer, he clearly is nowhere near in the same league as Senna or Schumacher. There are some wonderful tributes going round on Twitter, especially from Peter Windsor. Lots of rare photos too, which is nice.

I remember the day very clearly, and the tears that followed from all in our family. My Dad was devastated - Senna had become his hero after Gilles Villeneuve died and now another one of his loves had gone.

You are deeply missed Aryton.
