Re: Rightio. Who's it gunna be??

I'd love to see Alonso in that other car, although I suspect it won't happen. If they could rely on continuing the competitive advantage they've had for the past three years, you'd have to imagine they'd take the less stressful option and get a compliant and fast but not too fast number two, who can...

Re: Jackie Stewart on Hamilton

Another quote from Stewart, this time regarding Rosberg/Hamilton crash in Spain: "Hamilton is to blame. Rosberg was allowed to protect himself. You don't go for it on the first lap." " You don't go for it on the first lap "? Why not? The first lap sounds like a great time to go for it. Particularly ...

Re: Jackie Stewart on Hamilton

Stewart actually made the following almost inconceivable statement: "When you are paid between £20-30m a year and you are told to do something you have got to do it. I don't care who you are [...] It is not the first time he has gone against instructions." What I simply cannot understand is why Ste...

Re: Potential disciplinary action against Hamilton by Merced

Even to neutrals, Hamilton's behaviour yesterday must have spiced up the race. To those neutrals who think Hamilton should just have compliantly sped off into the distance, enabling Rosberg to cruise home to second place and the WDC, I have to ask: what precisely do you want from your two hours of ...

Re: Potential disciplinary action against Hamilton by Merced

Give Hamilton a car that is reliable and he wouldn't have been in that position. would imagine that's almost exactly what Hamilton said / will say when he gets called in for a 'chat'. Hamilton racing his own race and risking a 1-2 is neither here nor there in the grand scheme of Mercedes PR / brand...

Re: Potential disciplinary action against Hamilton by Merced

I like Brundle's take: "Hamilton's tactics were unfair on his team-mate, uncomfortable to observe, and disrespectful to his team. And I'd have been surprised and disappointed if he had done anything else. He's a hard-wired winner and that's why he's a three-time champion. Senna and Schumacher have d...

To those people pushing the "he's an employee: he should obey his employers' instructions" perspective, this is not like you being asked to refill the toilet roll shelf and giving your boss the finger, this is the F1 world championship. Re: Did Vettel cross the line today? (Radio Message to Charl

I don't think this is anywhere near as serious as many are making out.

As an aside, I think race bans should always be avoided except for in the most extreme cases. If I was a Vettel fan with tickets to Interlagos, and he had received a race ban, I'd be quite profoundly more than annoyed.

Yes. He deserves some sort of punishment for his behaviour today. In most other sports if you yell at the officials to eff off then you get removed from the field of play. The 'other sports' analogy doesn't really work. What if FIFA broadcasted a changing room conversation between some sportsball p...

Even if there is a case for 'bringing the sport into disrepute,' which I think is questionable, surely it exists in the decision to broadcast the comments to the world.

It would be weird if the FIA penalised him for FOM's decision to broadcast it. Re: 2016 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread

I doubt Hamilton can be as forceful with Rosberg at T1 as he was last year. At this stage in the championship, the guy leading on points is probably less concerned by a double DNF as the guy behind. As may have been the case in Spain this year, one might argue.

Watch any of Hamilton's post-Malaysia video interviews, or read any of his post-Malaysia print interviews, and the idea of Hamilton wanting to leave Mercedes becomes totally absurd.
