Re: A discussion about chicanes
I think they should put stingers in the run off areas (hollow spikes gives a slow puncture so it would be safe for anyone crashing) so if you do go straight on you need a tyre change. I would give a slow route through the run off where you can rejoin the track safely losing about 5 seconds compared ...

Is it illegal for that part to flex?
There won't be a deflection test for it and it isn't controlled by the driver. I don't know how they changed the rules after the F duct.

Re: so it was a 54 lap race. not a 56 lap race.
Yes, race officials accidentally waved the flag at 54 laps, and the regulations state if the end of race signal is given early, that is when the race is deemed to have finished. The only result affected is that Kobayashi and Bianchi switch places. It is worse than that, the race is deemed to have fi...

So conclusion is: don't make a ridiculously good start otherwise you'll surprise some drivers and you will be accused of risky driving. :uhoh: I get your point and I do feel sorry for Massa (who I would class as blameless) but if you do start well and there is a gap between two cars that had roughl...

It looks to me as if Alonso moves into Massa but it wasn't a chop and I don't think he could have see him (as Alonso was slightly ahead).
First corner it has to be called a racing incident.

Vaguely related:
Race commentary said that the 100l of race fuel didn't include recon lap(s), formation lap(s) and return to the pits (and sample).
As I thought the formation lap was part of the grand prix I was surprised at that. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Re: Formula 1 teams considering lifting ban on active suspen
One of the successes of this season has been the slides that we have been seeing. While I like active suspension I would be sad if the cars became less tail happy. Also I think active suspension will allow cars to "steal" more kerb which means higher kerbs which means more danger. (or corners will b...

Re: Are Mercedes still sandbagging (Engine performace) ?
I also wondered this. If I were Mercedes (and if I had a massive advantage) I would turn down the Engines even if I were allowing my drivers to race. They want to be able to get the 1s gap after 2 laps to avoid DRS but any faster than that is just inviting the FIA to allow other manufacturers "relia...

While I love Ferrari I don't think the influence they have on the sport is a good thing. However if they left and joined/formed another series it would be hard to know which to follow if I want to see the best cars and drivers. If they left motorsport all together then it would leave F1 unbalanced w...

There needs to be a penalty for leaving the track, gravel and kerbs are (deemed to be) unsafe. Put a highly abrasive surface down that will scrub the tread off the tyres. While there is only 1 tyre manufacturer they won't try to circumvent this. If you can make 1 corner outside the track confines eq...

If the exhaust gasses are flowing along a surface and that surface bends "away" from the gasses then the gasses will also bend so they continue to flow along the surface.
